Getting Lost in the Forest

I got lost cataloging the forest the other day
And missed the LIFE all around me


Then, I sat down by a tree
And instead of inventorying
The species of every plant around me
I closed my eyes
Took a deep and relaxing breaths
And LIFE overwhelmed me


Now, when I walk in the forest
I don’t so much feel the need to
Catalog every flower, tree, and squirrel


Inventorying the forest
Doesn’t give one knowledge of
LIFE in the forest….
