Germany's armed forces, the Bundeswehr, has confirmed it is missing more than 60,000 rounds of ammunition. Another 48,000 rounds from an elite special unit with links to right-wing extremism are also unaccounted for.

well....in my local area.....all of the 9mm shells have disappeared from the shelves

some years ago ......the 22ammo did the same

the 22's are back....but the 9mm's are gone

Definitely, all the time. Usually Bedouins living near the bases come to steal. This isn't anti-Arab bias; it's a known fact that the majority of thefts from the IDF are by Israeli Bedouins.

True story I heard from a veteran officer recently:

A certain battalion commander became the new head of a certain battalion. Upon arriving, he heard that the unit was undergoing constant thefts from local Bedouins. He decided he wouldn't put up with that, took charge, started strategizing, set up some nightly ambushes, collected info, made sure his men were aware of what was in their power to do during the incidents, etc.
The culmination of all of his preparation led to one incident in particular: he took some empty gasoline canisters, filled them up with glue and left them out in an unprotected area.
Let's just say that for the remainder of his time acting as commander of the battalion, nothing else was ever stolen.
