Genesis 1:1-2 study/debate

What does verse 1 reveal about creation?

If spirit beings are eternal are they created? (Can something be eternal and yet have a beginning?)

What does God know about eternity that created, spiritual beings do not know?

Does verse 2 imply that matter is eternal?

Are the waters verse 2 talks about literal waters?

Right from the get-go what does this verse teach us about God?

Where does it say ' spirit beings ' ( meaning angelic creation, right?) are eternal as in being immortal ?
Both angelic creation and human creation were created mortal with the possibility of having ' everlasting life ' either in heaven for angels, or on earth for humans.
Adam was Not ever offered immortality, but offered eternal life on earth as long as he did Not break God's Law.

According to Scripture, angelic Satan rebelled. Not because Satan was persecuted, Not because Satan was tempted to do wrong, but Satan failed in showing love.
Satan too like us was created as mortal. Satan could live forever in the heavenly realm as long as he obeyed God.
All sinners die, Satan is a sinner. Jesus will put Satan to death by destroying sinner Satan - Hebrews 2:14 B. All the wicked ( heaven and earth ) will be destroyed forever - Psalms 92:7

Yes, verse 2 is literal. According to Scripture God created earth for us - Psalms 115:16 - and earth ( matter ) will exist here on earth forever - Ecclesiastes 1:4 B

Well, spirit beings are unseen, which makes them non physical, which means they exist for eternity. For example Jesus said that there is an eternal fire that awaits the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:41)

Nothing really, most of this is borrowed from other religions.

I will attempt the question about water....

picture yourself as God....yes you can....
and someone has climbed up on your mountain....trespassing....
but he has intelligent questions.

How was all of this made?

you cannot say to him.....fusion
hydrogen fused into ever increasing elements and larger stars masses at work

you cannot say any of those terms to him.....he won't get it.

but he knows water
and if you tell him water he will write that down

centuries will pass before anyone has a clue about it.....but you are God....
and you have eternity of time on your side

my previous post helps to answer the get-go question....

God has a communication problem with His creation....
Man is kinda stupid

Well it does say God created, ... :)
To be exact , it says, "Elohim created".
There are many opinions on the meaning(s) meanings of Elohim discussed by various people.
Some say that because Elohim plural (Gen1:1), then it means 'gods' or spirits'.
However, if it was intended to have a pluralistic meaning, the the word for 'created' would be a plural and not, as it is a singular.

The explanation I read was that Elohim in Gen 1:1 refers to 7 aspects/attributes that God used for creation.

And according to the bible who made them that way?
we did it to ourselves.
we were given the ability to dominate all things......brains.
but we couldn't seem to handle that
as a species Man would over run the planet and it's resources before any spiritual qualities gelled.

Chapter Two is a story of a manipulation to fix the growing problem.

When God began to create the heaven and the earth -- the earth being unformed and void, withe darknes over the surface of the deep and a wind from God sweeping over the water -- God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
Yes I should not have written To be exact , it says, "Elohim created"; what I should have I should have written is The word for God used in "God created" is Elohim.

The only opinion I was trying to make in my response is that I don't think the elohim refers to spirits.
If memory serves, Madam Blavatsky isof the opposite opinion. You may want to research that.

Can you parallel this with something from a Targum?

What does verse 1 reveal about creation?
God did it.
If spirit beings are eternal are they created? (Can something be eternal and yet have a beginning?)
Where does this gibberish come from?
What does God know about eternity that created, spiritual beings do not know?
Insufficient data.
Does verse 2 imply that matter is eternal?
What about it gives you that idea?
Right from the get-go what does this verse teach us about God?
That in the beginning He created the heaven and the earth.
