Do gay Christians who are in relationships with the same sex just dismiss what the Bible says about it but believe in some of the other parts of the Bible and consider themselves still a Christian? I know I dismiss parts in the Bible and I'm still a Christian.

I am not gay, but I dismiss the "gay bashing" verses

Doing so, I consider myself a better Christian

I don't mean to proselytize, but I think if you're gay then you have no excuse for buying into Christianity. You should know on a personal level how abhorrent and backwards of an ideology it is, and all you're doing is bolstering the numbers of the people responsible for the persecution of everyone who share your suffering.

If you still think that religion is divinely inspired despite its hatred for you, I'm sorry. Religion has a way of getting into people's heads and hating yourself for who you love is no way to live. If you believe that God is love, though, then it should be clear that Christianity doesn't lead to God.

ETA: That's not my attempt to convert anyone, I don't think we have any gay Christians here. I just think the idea is silly on a conceptual level.

    This is really not difficult.

Start with what Jesus is quoted as saying. Such, "Love God. Love your neighbor. The rest is details."
    Nothing about orientation.

Then compare things attributed to other folks also found in the Bible. If their stuff conflicts with Jesus, ask yourself. "Would Jesus really be OK with that? Or is it something that other people considered important at the time?"

    It's easy.

Yeah I didn't wanna preach and I'm not really sure if any exist at all. Perhaps ones that are struggling. With being gay would be my best guess

A gay person may be struggling with their homosexuality not because of religion but other factors. I'm not gay but I do disregard the statements in the Bible regarding homosexuality but I didn't dismiss religion completely and I think it has benefited me in some ways.

My lesbian friend and her girlfriend are both christians. She loves god and loves the bible. If she and her girlfriend decided to stay celibate and have a relationship (just as strong as they would when they are intimate) they wouldn't be going against the bible. I really doesn't have to do with whether they are gay (lesbian, straight, so have you) but what they (gay, straight, lesbian, so have you) Do that may or may not be against the bible.

Some of her morals I would say they are against the bible. But I wouldn't personally (me personally) judge a christian (Hindu, whoever) based on how they practice their faith and in their relationship with god. People in the bible had relationships with god way before anything was written down. So, maybe the question is more, in what instances can one be a christian yet behave in a way that contradicts the bible?

Most 'Christians' follow the teachings of Paul et al, not Jesus.

I think it is a matter of love of what Jesus Christ did for us on and through the Cross.

    For and example:

Eph 4: 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

So there are Christians who have to go beyond what they use to do, whether corrupt communication or even robbing. Love desire to be more like Jesus.

Romans 6:12-14 King James Version (KJV)
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

So, again, it is a matter of changing for love sake and yielding to what God wants and not what we want. It is a matter of whether or not Jesus is truly the Lord of our lives.

I see it that way as well.

For a Christian, the answer is love no matter what the question is.

And that is a supreme challenge if there ever was one. I know that implies that no matter how wrong I think someone is in word and deed, my response should be to at least try to love them, truly love them.

If you reframe it to be more aligned with medical science (if one likes), think of homosexuality as a sexual orientation not a behavior. You wouldn't have to ignore that part of the Bible because the context is talking about people in general not gay people specifically.

Dear Christian, one day the Jesus is coming. You may be at work, you may be at home. Be ready when He makes His personal appeal. Be 100% sure, the Jesus is not gay.

Unfortunately those types of people would be around even if there were never any religions. Christianity and other religions aren't the underlying cause and I would be foolish to believe otherwise.

Love does not come easy for me. Love for my wife? Sure. Love for friends? Yes. Love for Donald Trump? That's a supreme challenge for which I fall extremely short.
