Welcome friends to the RF Game: 100 things

This game is simple. If you know 100 things about any subject, any topic, reply to this thread. If there's more than one topic or subject which meets this criteria, list them all.

The participant with the most topics or subjects is the winner. The participants with creative strange or otherwise highly memorable entries will get a prize. There is only one rule: please be honest.

Thank you!

List the things we know or just the subjects? Do we break it down by genre; is it 100 things about music or 100 things about rock? Do closely related but separate subjects count if the 100 things will largely be the same?

Sailing was my hobby in my youth, and I think I still remember 100 things. I can tie the 10 most common knots, name about 50 parts of a boat, and answer at least 40 questions on a licence test (rules at sea, signs, navigation).

Programming was my profession, I should know a few things about that.

Living history is my current hobby, and sword fencing is part of that. I could teach you 20 ways to kill your opponent and looking good doing it, with footwork, grips, movement, ways to get around the defence and escape.

You can post whatever you want, but the winner will be chosen based on the number of the subjects. Special prizes will be awarded for creative, strange, or unexpected entries.

Do we break it down by genre; is it 100 things about music or 100 things about rock?

However you chose to do it is perfectly fine. That's part of the game. There is only 1 rule: please be honest.

Good question, I refer you to the one and only rule. Other than that, use your best judgement on what is or is not a different subject. Based on what you've written and the questions you've asked, I would expect that the 100 things you're thinking of are not identical. If the 100 things are largely the same? But not identical? If it were me? Those are different subjects. But you are the master of your domain. I trust your judgement.

100 things, eh?
that could lead to a very large list of things. Not bragging, but we all know much more than 100 things in many categories.
- I know the smells of thousands of different fruits, vegetables, geographic areas, people, spices, etc. etc.
- I know, hundreds and hundreds of different words in the English language. I might even know 100 words in German.
- I know the texture of hundreds of different materials, like the screen in front of me, the keyboard, the grill on the air conditioner, the carpet, and the glass of the lightbulbs, etc.

But I would imagine that the OP was trying to look for less mundane areas of knowledge that might be more unique to us individually. More each of us may know, than the average Joe.

Since I don’t like to talk about my career online, I guess I could discuss some things that are a little unusual that I might know 100 items about….

- I know 100+ things about hiking and camping.
- Hundreds of things about playing D&D.
- 100+ things about firearms and bullets.
- 100+ things about a smattering of martial arts styles.
- Modern (low energy) house construction.
- Perhaps 100 recipes.
- Hundreds of things about living organisms (biology) from macro to sub-micro.
- There must be several hundred things that will trigger me to quote a line from a song, movie, or book. ;)

This game was inspired by a dear friend whose "100 things" book was recently published. My spouse and I went to the book signing and were chit chatting with our friend the author. I was impressed with his accomplishment. He said anyone can do it. I argued ( because that's what I do ) saying I wouldn't be able to do it. My spouse says, "Of course you can." And starts listing a few of my passionate interests. I continue to argue ( because that's what I do ). Yes, I could probably come up with 100 things to say about those topics, but, they're not 100 interesting things. No one would buy the book, much less publish it.

However, even if the 100 things aren't interesting or compelling for the purpose of selling a book, I thought to myself: "Hey, It's actually kind of cool to know about my friend's passionate interests. Asking them about their interests, their passions, in this form, might be kind of fun. You can learn a lot about a person based on the way they answer the question."

That's the back-story on this game. I hope that puts the game in a contextual box facilitating your participation.

I know that I’ve won the “Last Post is the Winner” thread at least 100 times.

I wish I could play this. Although I know a lot of things about my religion, I cannot list 100 things from memory. I would have to look up some names and terms. For instance, there are 33 devas in the Vedas, but I don’t know all the names. There are 10 Mahāvidyā goddesses, but I can name just a few from memory. There are a total of 36 scriptures called Purāṇas, but I cannot name very many of them. You get the idea. :)

I bet if we got to talking for an hour or two on this topic, and I kept note of all the things you said, you'd for sure come up with 100. Even if you couldn't put a proper label on each thing, I suspect the tidbits of information would add up.
