I love funerals. Almost all kinds of funerals I know.

Nice. Death is the time to celebrate, birth is the time to grieve.

Indeed. Another round of this place?

Have you ever seen the cult move 'Harold and Maude'?

They are actually for the living, not the dead. Time to gather and share the grief and celebrate together. But they have also evolved into big business.

I worship and believe in the One I see as the Source of Everything as a result of experience and faith. Label me as you see fit.
Then you'd love it where I live.
Lots of old timers in this building, so seeing a hearse and a group of mourning people is not an uncommon sight here.

I want to be an oldtimer too. And then have a sky funeral. :) If the vultures care to eat a granny meat, I guess.

It's uplifting to think "it got you this time but I'm still alive".

Funerals are times when people turn temporally philosophical. In Hinduism, this is known as 'Smashan Vairagya' (the Asceticism of the funeral ground).

Because funerals are not exactly happy occasions. I've never attended a funeral that I liked. I've been to several to pay my respects and support the family but all I wanted was for it to be over so I could go home.

In Delhi, if the funeral is being held in the Mahabharata times funeral ground, Nigambodh Ghat, it is the normal practice of myself and my brothers to have a cup of tea while the pyre is being prepared (myself first because I am the leader).
They are not happy occasions, but they are also not sorrowful occasions. They are sort of normal, will happen with all people.

Grieving is personal and has huge diversity, just like so many other human takes on life.
