Fully Vaccinated? Ditch The Mask

New CDC guidelines are if you are fully vaccinated you can safely do away with a mask and forgo social distancing.

Fully vaccinated? You can ditch the mask, CDC says
"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday that people who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 no longer need to wear masks or physically distance — whether indoors or outdoors in most circumstances."

It's only two weeks after vaccination that they can ideally toss their masks. But I don't think businesses will let up on masks any time soon. CDC says that one doesn't need to wear masks when outdoors and not in crowded areas. However, downtown, their local restrictions is to wear masks outside and its not even a populated area if that.

Depends on where, really. CDC generalizes.

Moreover, the CDC can’t overrule or countermand state executive orders. I don’t see Tovarishch Murphsky in the Union of Soviet Socialist Counties of New Jersey relenting any time soon, whatever the CDC says.

I'm going to wear mine forever.

No one should be expected to have to look at my ugly mug...

I will likely continue to wear mine even after two weeks from now (received the second dose today in case you haven't seen this in another thread) until the majority of the population is vaccinated, not for fear or concern over catching or spreading the virus, but to be an example of responsibility to those that have yet to be vaccinated (and maybe even to ruffle the feathers of anti-maskers a bit).

Not me! I have had enough of trying to do the right thing. From now on my philosophy is "If you can't be part of the solution, be part of the problem". Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on a poorly tuned Humvee?:D

I like my mask and prefer people keep their distance (I'm an extreme introvert,) so I'm going to continue wearing my mask.

Sweet, I am so looking forward to seeing people's smiling faces. Also, not having to wear a mask if fully vaccinated is a nice incentive to persuade the non-vaccinated to get vaccinated.

Disposable masks might harm the environment, please let us vaccinated persons consider the environmental impact of unnecessarily wearing disposable masks.

Problem is all the stores, restaurants, gyms etcetera that I go to still require masks for entry. Has this started to change anywhere?

Not in my area yet. Not enough vaccinated. At this point, if I go to a store and see people without masks, I will leave, because that business obviously does not want to protect the health of their employees.

Vaccination for people under 60 only opened up here on April 15th, so that group hasn't had enough time for even the earliest ones to be vaccinated to be considered fully vaccinated yet.

Pfizer--1st dose + 21 days for 2nd dose + 14 days afterwards to be considered fully vaccinated = May 20th for the earliest ones vaccinated on the first available day of April 15
Moderna--1st dose + 28 days for 2nd dose + 14 days to be considered fully vaccinated = May 27th for the earliest ones vaccinated on the first available day of April 15

The J & J vaccine was on pause for the first part, and it was really difficult to get an appointment during the first 10 days. I had to travel an hour each way to get an appointment for Moderna on April 26, which was a weekday morning.

Here it depends on the store, restaurant, clubs, etc., some do some don't.
The only time I wore a mask is if the establishment required it or prior to my second shot+14days. Never wore a mask outdoors unless required in certain cities and I never went there.
