Frubals, Coins and Ribbons (And FAQ!)

Feathers in Hair

World's Tallest Hobbit
It would be impossible to list the many different ways that Religious Forums is unique, but a few of them are those elusive things called frubals, coins and ribbons. Frubals and coins are easy to confuse with one another, while ribbons are an entirely different category of object to explore. Let's take a look at how each of these work!

Frubals

Have you ever hear the phrase 'instant karma'? Frubals (sometimes known as 'reputation') are are a very close equivelent. Let's say, for example, you see a post that you really like. You can validate that person by clicking on the little 'frubal link that appears in that post. (It's toward the right-hand side, and usually has a bar underneath it.) A pop-up message will come up, asking what you thought of the post and will have a blank space where you can write your thoughts on that post. The other member will have it noted in their "User CP" that someone thought that that post was worth frubals, and if you enclosed a note, that will appear next to the notation.

Something to remember while doing this is that the other poster won't know who the frubals are coming from, which is good if you want to remain anonymous, but it's sometimes nice for them to know who is admiring their thoughts. If you want to let them know who these frubals are coming from, include your name somewhere in the note that you send to them. (Just like a "From" message on a card.)

There are many terms used on the forums that denote giving someone frubals. Among them are "frubaling a post," "frubalizing someone," and "fruballed."

As our founder, Rex_Admin, has noted, there are a number of variables that determine how many frubals you give when 'frubalize' a person. (And, of course, how many frubals you can give in one day.)

Register Date Factor:
For every 132 number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Post Count Factor:
For every 100 number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Reputation Point Factor:
For every 250 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Minimum Post Count:
How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? 50

Minimum Reputation Count:
How much reputation must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? 10

Daily Reputation Clicks Limit:
How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? Administrators are exempt from this limit. 10

Reputation User Spread:
How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? (Administrators are exempt from this limit.) 5

Coins

In order to obtain things like ribbons, changing your title, and other options you can get through the store, coins are a neccessity.

There are many ways in which you can earn coins; starting new threads, replying to threads, even simply viewing threads can all add to your RF pocketbook. If you feel another person deserves praise or recognition but you don't feel like giving them frubals, you can also donate coins to them. Other forum members can donate coins to you, which is a good thing, too!

Ribbons

Newest among the features here at Religious Forums are the wonderful ribbons. Currently, each of these costs 1000 coins.

People usually buy ribbons to show that they support a certain cause and awareness of that cause, but you can also buy them simply because you like the color. You might even start simply collecting them. Each ribbon encompasses several causes.

It's worth noting that if you can help a cause or charity with real coins, that's obviously even better than having ribbons. Ribbons are are simply a nice way to show your support using non-financial means.
