"Friends" and "Sex and the City" question

I haven't seen both series in their entirety but:

In Sex and the City the character least likely to be a relationship (Samantha) gets with a character even less likely to stick around (Smith) and he becomes the love of her life. But in the movie they break up.

So why don't they do a Friends movie to tie up the loose end: get Joey and Phoebe together. They're the only pairing that didn't happen in the show.

Movies can make big changes to the overall story

I never watched Sex and the City. But there was a follow up Fiends movie recently. I haven't seen it yet, but who knows? Maybe they did answer those questions for you.

Joey and Phoebe are really nothing alike and would make a terrible couple. They didn't get together because their match would make no sense.

Phoebe already married Paul Rudd.
