    Ooops!

"TAOS, N.M. (Reuters) - Two blazes that grew into New Mexico's largest ever wildfire were both started by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), the agency said on Friday, prompting the state's governor to demand the federal government take full responsibility for the disaster.

Forest Service investigators determined the Calf Canyon Fire was caused by a "burn pile" of branches that the agency thought was out but reignited on April 19, the Santa Fe National Forest said in a statement.

That blaze on April 22 merged with the Hermits Peak Fire, which the USFS started with a controlled burn that went out of control on April 6, the agency previously reported."

This is why I say the "Homer Sapiens" evolution line really does best sum us up best.

I sympathize, because the woods where I live accumulate pine needles and are dangerously susceptible to wildfires. Recently I inquired about getting help thinning the trees, but nobody was interested. They suggested a controlled burn.

I still remember when there was almost none of this when logging was around until radicals screaming to save the forest put a stop to logging operations. Now there is more damage done without logging because of them.

Rather than ban it altogether, there should of been a requirement to just replenish what they take with new trees for the next generations.

I hug trees all the time. And the fruits are just a bonus.

I think the key is balance. Same as native nations where you enjoy the fruits of the land, but you also give back and allow things to replenish.
