Have you tried empirical observation?
That is exactly what I am asking you.
What are you talking about?
You seem to have left quite a bit out of your OP.
Straight answer?Gave you tried giving a straight answer?
Yes they do.They are beautiful, but they don't apply to those who don't follow scripture.
How so?Yes they do.
That is exactly what I am asking you.
What are you talking about?

I have a problem with you? What's your problem with me? Come on dude.
Yes they do.
But Scripture isn't an authority to us.

If you leave out the religious part, and just look at the moral bits, it's a good recipe for a satisfying life. Hardly all inclusive, and quite primitive, but it's a good foundation. As long as you realize that there's also a lot more to learn about living a good life. How so?
So we need to completely butcher them for them to apply? If you leave out the religious part, and just look at the moral bits, it's a good recipe for a satisfying life. Even with a belief in God people cherry pick and reinterpret the Beatitudes to suit themselves. The beatitudes are all based on belief in god. Without belief in god as the foundation, you can take them and make them guidelines-cherry pick them for one's own usage-but at the end, because they god-focused, why would they apply to atheists, Hindus, etc-those who do not follow scripture?
Straight answer?
Hells bells, he appears unable to put a full thought into an OP....
So we need to completely butcher them for them to apply?
Pretty much, yeah.So we need to completely butcher them for them to apply?
I have a problem with you?
You will need to let me know what it is, for I do not.
I do have a problem understanding your OP.
It seems to be missing some pertinent information for it to make sense.
Of course, if this is a continuation from another thread, It would be a good idea to to not only mention that, but to also provide, at the very least, the name of the other thread, if not a link to it.
Pretty much, yeah.
They're ancient and primitive.
OK, a huge dose of salt. Not just a grain. But an essence of solid moral behavior is in there, if you can get past the primitive way it was espoused.

NIV:
The Beatitudes
He said:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Very hard if you think about it, I can't do it.
I don't desire the Kingdom of Heaven. I don't even think it exists.NIV:
