As some of you are aware, I have been in the process of purchasing a new home and I have a major update. As of today, the transaction has closed and funded, and I have now taken possession of the property. :D:D:D

I hauled over my desk, computer, office chair, and tri-fold mattress amongst other things so I could stay over the very first day of closing. I am exhausted from the closing process and moving my initial belongings, but the excitement is still palpable. No more obnoxious downstairs neighbors...no more apartment laundry mat...no more shi****g money away on rent...aaaahhhh!!

I don't think this is going to get old very quickly. :D

Congratulations... I still remember when we purchased our first home in 1992. We had moved out of a small apartment, so it was a whole new world to be in our own home with acreage on a river. We purchased another larger home in 2008 but we kept the first home as a rental. Then we purchased a vacation home in 2010 but it also became a rental since vacations are not something we can do right now. :(

As a landlord, I must reprimand you for saying that rent is a waste.
Rent is used to pay loan interest, property taxes, insurance, maintenance, & improvements.
You're just paying those things individually now.
    Congrats!
As a property owner, you are now on the path to real manhood.

Oh you poor landlord........... as your property races up in value hand-over-hand, which is why it's so hard for new buyers to reach out to gain their own property.

@TurkeyOnRye Yes....... congratulations! You're on the ladder! :)

The more of the properties, so the bigger the courting tackle, Revolting? What a wonderful way of looking at 'manhood'........

I wonder how that works with female buyers ?

They too become more manly....deepening voice, reduced
empathy, & continual carping about those consarned liberals.

I still don't have all of my belongings in. I will do that slowly throughout the course of the rest of the month. Here is a pic of the computer room. The only room at the moment that is really furnished.

I hope you get great use out of your new home. They are a big commitment in life and always the greatest asset when they are shared with family.

I can say from experience, just remember that home is where the heart is and our greatest shelter.

Houses we purchase in this life come and go. For some financial gain, for others not so.

    All the best, regards Tony

Congrats, when's the house warming party?

I am told moving house is one of the most stressful periods od a person's life. Now its tome to relax and absorb that wonderful feeling of owning your new home.

I think he meant it was a waste because he was not getting a return on his investment, as you are. Rent benefits you but it only benefits the tenant in the sense of providing him with a place to live.

I don't see Detroit recovering quickly enuf to justify investing there.
I expect price increases in cheaper properties, which were once'
worth nothing (or almost) at all. You could invest there though.

I was joking with him, but I was also right.
Most of what he'll pay to live in the house he
owns will be interest, property taxes, etc, etc.
These things are just expenses...like rent.
