Feis report!

Booko

Deviled Hen
Well, Eibhlin had a successful feis (Irish dance competition) Saturday in Myrtle Beach.

Honestly I wondered for a bit if she was going to get through the day in once piece, but with judicious use of homeopathics, arnica gel, and my handy percussor machine (like physical therapists use to loosen up muscles) she not only got through it, but did really well.

Reel: 4th place
Slip Jig: 2nd place
Treble Jig: 3rd place
Hornpipe: didn't place
Traditional set: didn't place (1st time she's ever done one of those)
Treble reel: 3rd place

The Treble reel was the total surprise! She got a really huge trophy for that one (the rest she got medals for).

The Treble reel is the serious foot-stomping sort of Irish dance you've seen if you've seen any sort of Irish dance at all.

The thing is -- she was competing for the very first time in that event, against people who were much older than her!

AND -- her routine was something she choreographed completely by herself.

She's only been working the treble reel at all for maybe the last 2 months, and not that often either. Before that, she knew nothing about it.

So we're all very proud of this unexpected success!
