Fasting: The Solution to Starvation
Fasting means one is abstaining from food and/or drink for a fixed amount of time. A common fast is from sunrise to sunset. There are many reasons why one should consider incorporating fasting into ones regular routine. Fasting has been proven to extend ones life, health, happiness and well being.
Fasting promotes detoxification. As the body breaks down its fat reserves, it mobilizes and eliminates stored toxins. Toxins are poisons produced by an organism. Said toxins can eventually lead to other more serious diseases that can make one seriously ill and can even be fatal. Fasting allows the digestive system to rest and recover. The same way it would be devastating to continuously run an automobile engine non-stop until it is destroyed, it is devastating to continuously run our bodies (namely our digestive system) without a rest and a break. It is scientifically proven that fasting promotes longevity and good health. While the digestive system is taking a break, the body now has time to break down and flush out stored toxins (poisons) and prepare them for disposal. After fasting, both digestion and elimination are invigorated.
Fasting has been clinically proven to resolve many inflammatory syndromes such as rheumatoid arthritis. Fasting also calms allergic reactions, including hay fever and asthma. Fasting miraculously dries up abnormal fluid accumulations, such as swelling in the abdomen and edema in the ankles and legs.
For those with high blood pressure a vegetarian diet has shown the greatest successful results for a natural cure. Abstinence from flesh foods through a vegetarian diet should be first on the list for those seeking a cure. Fasting too has been proven to correct high blood pressure and is a natural cure without drugs. Fasting reduces blood pressure to a safe level and fasting will keep it at a safe level so long as one manages ones diet, namely by avoiding animal products (obviously exercising is guaranteed to keep it on a safe level).
Fasting clears blemishes and restores beauty to the skin and whitens the eyes.
Fasting naturally strengthens ones taste buds and revives ones appreciation for food and drink. It is commonplace for one to experience a heightened sense of taste and smell after fasting.
Many people are addicted to narcotics such as cigarettes (nicotine) as well as alcohol and other drugs. Fasting has shown tremendous results for rapidly dissipating the craving and addiction for these drugs. Fasting helps the victims of this genocide to overcome their addiction and regain their health and sobriety. This of course will in turn improve many aspects of ones life.
The list goes on and on. There are MANY reasons why one should fast for health benefits, psychological cultivation as well as spiritual ascension and enlightenment. Through fasting one learns to control ones mind, body and spirit. One can reflect upon the Divine Spirit that gives life to this planet and all that exists. How did we get here? Where did we come from? What is it that brings about food from the earth? What is it that gives order to our planet and universe? Why have we been given life? These types of question can be better understood with a clear mind and a peaceful spirit. Fasting teaches one how to maintain discipline and how to heighten ones awareness and understanding. Fasting is one of the many tools for awakening the spirit.
Now to the main topic: The Solution to Starvation
It is not happenstance that many figures, from Prophets and Messengers of the Spiritual life giving force some call God; from wise men and philosophers and to practitioners of medicine and body chemistry, have all recommended fasting as a major tool for the edification of our body, mind and spirit. As well there are many Universal secrets to fasting that continue to edify. This is why many religious groups have adopted fasting into their belief systems. It is also well known that fasting is one of the five pillars of the Islamic faith.
The numbers and statistics below are not based on tested results; rather, they are only for informational purposes and are used for examples and hypothetical situations.
Let us say for example that the average person eats five pounds of food a day. Of course this figure will vary from person to person. If this average person were to fast for one day a week, four weeks a month, for twelve months, this person would be abstaining from two hundred and forty pounds of food a year.
5 lbs x 4 wks = 20 lbs
20 lbs x 12 mths = 240 lbs
So what could one do with this two hundred and forty pounds of food? By fasting one wouldn't have to buy all that extra food. One could take the money saved and give it to charity and help feed a starving child or adult. This two hundred and forty pounds of food now has become excess for the fasting person and has become a meal for the starving and deprived. Contrary to the common expression "How can one person bring peace to the Earth?" the example is clear. To fill the hungry bellies should be one of the first concerns on any peacemakers agenda.
Now let us increase the number of people for this example. Lets hypothetically say there are exactly six billion people on the planet Earth. What if half of these people (three billion people) were to fast one day a week, for four weeks a month, twelve months a year?
3 billion x 5 lbs = 15,000,000,000 lbs of food in one week
15,000,000,000 lbs x 4 wks = 60,000,000,000 lbs in one month
60,000,000,000 lbs x 12 mths = 720,000,000,000 in one year
Surely seven hundred and twenty trillion pounds of food would be a sufficient amount of food to feed ALL the starving people in the world. Again these figures are hypothetical but they are VERY realistic and practical.
Just one day a week! This will improve your health, calm your mind and bring peace to your spirit.
Just one day a week! It is possible to feed a starving child.
Just one day a week! You can finally give something back to the force of nature that gives you life, by feeding the innocent and oppressed.
Just one day a week! You can gives thanks to the force of nature that puts food on your table.
This is not a new solution to world hunger. The worlds most well known and loved Teachers, Prophets, Saints, Sages and Philosophers such as Moses, David, Jesus and so on have all practiced fasting on a regular basis and promoted these teachings to the sincere among them.
Just one day a week! You can save money on food and feed the hungry at the same time.
