Far Left Parties (December 2019 UK Election Edition)

If you are a serious masochist with at least some passing delusions of revolutionary grandeur such as myself, you may be wondering what the far left parties are doing for the December 2019 General Elections in the UK. Given that there are 650 seats in total, the answer is not that much. Strange as it may sound, wanting to destroy capitalism and overthrow financial institutions makes it hard to raise money to run election campaigns. And, true to form, they are as divided as ever...

Arguably the two biggest far left parties in the UK have decided not to stand candidates at all and are effectively endorsing Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party:

The Trade Union and Socialist Coalition (which stood 135 candidates in the 2015 general election) published a statement as of November 2018 to suspend all activity in General Elections "where there is the possibility of a Corbyn-led government".

Article: TUSC SUSPENDS ELECTORAL ACTIVITY NATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE STATEMENT
Full Statement: http://www.tusc.org.uk/txt/425.pdf

The Communist Party of Britain (estimated 775 members in 2018, standing 9 candidates in the 2015 general election) has published an article backing a Corbyn led Labour government.

Labour can win with bold polocies and mass campaigining, Communists insist

For those that are standing, they represent a tiny fraction of the list of candidates standing nationally. The full list of candidates is available here if you are interested or want to look up your own constituency: Known candidates for each ballot in the UK Parliament elections

Of the far left parties that are standing, after trawling through the list here's what I counted:

The Socialist Labour Party will stand only 1 candidate in Hartlepool.

The Worker's Revolutionary Party will be standing 5 candidates. VOTE WRP DECEMBER 12th - Workers Revolutionary Party

The Socialist Party of Great Britain has 2 candidates;

The Socialist Equality Party has 3 candidates; Election Statement | Socialist Equality Party

The Alliance for Green Socialism has 3 candidates;

The Communist league Election Campaign has 2 candidates;

Needless to say, none of them will probably get elected. But, here's to trying and keeping the glorious future where we all end up in a gulag alive!

As always Comrades, feel free to share your thoughts and comments below.
