“For it is love that I desire, not sacrifice, and knowledge of God rather than holocausts.” (Hosea 6:6)

    READINGS:
    1. Hosea 6:3-6
    2. Romans 4:18-25
    3. Matthew 9:9-13

REFLECTION: There are many images of God. For some, there are childhood images of fear, of judgment, keeping count of sins. Some experience God as a loving presence. These people, instead of trying to earn God’s love, rest in his presence and enjoy being with God. Love is the foundation of the spiritual life. Sacrifice is at times necessary but accepted with thought of growth in love.

PRAYER: God, grant us the gift of your loving presence. Help us to see the cross in our lives as a means to greater love for you and others. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

    FAMILY DISCUSSION/ACTIVITY:

    Tuesday:
Prepare and enjoy a special summer meal with your family or/and friends.
