Fallout 3 Character Builds

Whether on the 360, PC, or PS3 everyone has they own way of playing Fallout 3, from a Gunslinging good guy, an evil stealth assassin, or any type of Neutral, we do thing different.

I'm on my 4th character right now, and waiting for Broken Steel(out not week), and this time it a max build character, I had trouble figuring one out so I'm using someone else build, but I did change a few of the perks to something for the way I play, I will post mine then will mention which one he used.

8: Toughness (He put the perk Scrounger here, it's a good perk it give you twice the amount of ammo when you open up a create and ammo box).

16: Better Critical
17: Action Boy(or girl if you are playing a female)

Gear:
Ranger Battle Armor (I might go with Tribal power armor from the pitt DCL +15AP over +5AP, but with that -1 to AG it's a +13 to AP really, and TPA as less DR)
Lucky Shades
3 Dogs Head Wrap
Lucky 8 ball
Yew's Bear Charm(works like the Speech bobblehead)
All the bobble heads and skill books

Quest perks:
Ant's Sight
Barkskin
Survivor Guru +6DR (he went with the +3% to Crits)
Wired Reflexes
I would also say that if you had the O:A dlc get the Covert Ops perk, it just adds 3 points to your Science, Small guns and Lockpick, but if done early one that's 3 point in those 3 that you don't have to worry about.
From the Pitt dlc: Booster Shot: Rad Resistance and Pitt fighter: +3% to Rad and Damage Resistance.

Can't place my stats now, as I am at work.

I am on my second character. My first one was also my first time Fallout. It was a lightsided character purelly build on explore. So I raised my Lockpick to the max, my sneak, science etc..
As weapons I raised my big guns and plasma. That's not the best choice I noticed. Small guns and plasma would have been better. I did my lightsided character without the expansions.

Now I am playing a bad side character. I started as a girl, but I needed only 2 levels to find out I just cannot get into a story in where I need to make a girl evil
So I restarted and I am a guy now. I'll post pictures later.
The purpose of this evil guy is to become strong. He needs only a few bullets to kill the biggest and stuff. His profile started neutral, but he got annoyed by the sadness of the wasteland. This time I knew all information and had anchorhead and the Pitt (Didn't reach them yet though) and the new expansion in the back of my head.
First time, I had no idea I needed all those books for example. This time I also raised intelligence to 9 at the start and took a race towards Rivet city for the bobblehead. I want to use as many stats as available.

Cool BB, , my evil character was a female all the way to 20. The Max build I stopped for the fact that I don't feel the need to hunt down all 25 skill books for each skill and having comprehension.
I have a new build I'll post later, This one I have in mind for when Broken Steel come at next week ^_^ can't wait.

I don't need all the books, but from some skills I want most of them. Like lockpick for example.
Well, as soon as possible. I need my lockpick to become 100 as I need to enter everything

Yeah, the easy way to get all skill too 100% is to have Comprehension, and not read any book till you get it, 2 points instead of 1 for every book, that's a 50 point raise with every book.
Though I should note that has far as I can remember, Big Gun skill books(or at lest the one you get from a Raider in the Bethesda ruins) and Science books respawn after 72/73 hours.

made it pretty evil, a true shoot first ask qeustions later, killed prety much the entire population with the wazer rifle (and i did it all without cheats)

O wow!!! I knew the raider respawned, but I actually never knew the book respawned with him
Does it? At the 1.5 patch? Because then I put too many points in science allready..

Not sure, at lest on the 360 it does(maybe) still respawn. I know there where something that had to be fix with patches on the PC version that where not a problem on the 360 or PS3 version. There's still the glitch to get into the Citadel, so I'll check the books today.

Respawning book, Confirmed!!!

My big guns went up from 67 to 100
Took me some time though :cover:

On to the sciencebook! Although I won't be doing this one all at the same time

Sciencebook confirmed and easier to get than the big guns book. Shame that it renders the anchorageperk almost useless

True, but I never do Anchorage for the perk, though it is fun just to find all 10 cases.
One more character going, going to have all Stats at 10 at level 30, going with the boomy boomy play this time, love me some frags.

I got my stats up to very huigh, possible to max all of them to a hundred at level 30. There is a perk that gives you at least a 9 in your s.p.e.c.i.a.l. It's a darn shame I allready had some bobbleheads, or else I could have made a perfect build.

yeah that's why I'm waiting with this char. till I get to 30 to grab the heads ^_^.

BTW, does anybody know how to disable the wheel of the mouse, ever time I turn it by accident, wich isn't much often thankfully, it zooms to 3rd person, I want only 1st person

Is there any viable way to rely almost solely on VATS in Fallout 3? I really dig the first two games, but FPS aren't usually my thing.

Yes there is. First make sure you have a high Agility for more AP, and also take this perks: Gunslinger(for better chances to hit in VATS with one handed guns), Commando(same has gunslinger but for rifles), Finesse(Better chance of do a crit., it's like have 5 more to luck), Sniper(Better chance of hitting the target in the head, this plus gunslinger and Commando is good), Action Boy/Girl(25 more AP for VATS), and Grim Reaper's Spirit(when you kill an enemy in VATS you AP is refilled at the end of it).

My cousin just completed a pacifist run with this build:

The only thing he killed was the radroach at age 10.
