Much of what is attributed to aliens could be explained by the human brain and proton tunneling.
Proton tunneling is a type of
quantum tunneling involving the instantaneous disappearance of a
proton in one site and the appearance of the same proton at an adjacent site separated by a potential barrier. The two available sites are bounded by a double well potential of which its shape, width and height are determined by a set of boundary conditions. According to the
WKB approximation, the probability for a particle to tunnel is inversely proportional to its mass and the width of the potential barrier.
Electron tunneling is well-known. A proton is about 2000 times more massive than an
electron, so it has a much lower probability of tunneling; nevertheless, proton tunneling still occurs especially at low temperatures and high pressures where the width of the potential barrier is decreased.
Proton tunneling is usually associated to
hydrogen bonds. In many molecules that contain hydrogen, the hydrogen atoms are linked to two non-hydrogen atoms via a hydrogen bond at one end and a covalent bond at the other. A hydrogen atom without its electron is reduced to being a proton. Since the electron is no longer bound to the hydrogen atom in a hydrogen bond, this is equivalent to a proton resting in one of the wells of a double well potential as described above. When proton tunneling occurs, the hydrogen bond and covalent bonds are switched. Once proton tunneling occurs, the same proton has the same probability of tunneling back to its original site provided the double well potential is symmetrical.
In classical physics, the energy difference between the two energy wells; entrance and exit of the tunnel, is often so high that the tunneling is not considered favorable. The odds are very low because there is no obvious source of sufficient energy at those conditions. However, if the energy was somehow made available, there is nothing that says it cannot happen, since this would be consistent with energy conservation. Tunneling has been observed in the lab, so it is real.
One way this needed spike of energy, can be explain, is connected to distortions in sequential time and space. For example, say a proton, in confined space, quantum tunnels. Since there is no apparent energy available in real time and space; classical, the energy is not be sequenced in a classical way. Therefore, it has to be connected in a non-sequential way. Theoretically, the quantum tunneling can induce what appears to be an energy vacuum, which draws out the needed energy from time and space, but not in a classic sequence.
In terms of a folklore analogy, the presence of ghosts and evil spirits has been said to makes the air feel cold. If we apply basic physics to this folk lore, the cold air implies that energy has been extracted from the air, by some unknown endothermic affect. The ghost is inferred from the affect. The cold air pockets then extracts heat, from the observer, too restore local sequential equilibrium. We feel ourselves lose heat energy.
In terms of quantum tunneling of protons, a similar affect could theoretically make it "cold" around neurons, so to speak. This can then induce neuron sequences to fire, to close the non sequential energy balance. Conservation of energy is maintained, while quantum affects lead neuron firing in a way that appears out of classical sequence of time and space; Quantum consciousness.
Quantum affects like this could explain willower and choice. If a quantum vacuum is pulled; cold air, due to tunneling, then neural sequences will need to fire to close the energy balance. However, these may not be exactly wired in a way to maintain the classical cause and affects, of an automaton or robot brain. it is out of sequence and therefore willful.
The bible seems to indicate that this quantum property evolved in the human brain quite recently, in terms of sequential time. This is not sequential or based on classical biology. More research needs to be done in terms water and life since H2O is the proton tunneling king.
