I suppose it is the percentage that makes it news. I was being wildly optimistic. Globally I reckon we're already past the tipping point, Holocene extinction and all that. This is hardly news. We've known of the threat for decades. Why would we expect a reaction now?
Business?Doesn't matter how loud anyone shouts, business pulls the strings
Business?
An ever expanding population is the cause.
People use resources & occupy land.
This leaves less for the critters.

You could have a large concert with bands there to talk about saving these animals. You might be able to get a lot of cool bands. Invite a few MP's and make presentations to the MP's.
I hear what you're saying. Sadly that is the kind of thing one might do, yes. Its as likely to be effective as the concert idea. How about we look for someone to volunteer to burn themselves to death in protest.
Maybe we could bring a big cage filled with a variety of animals and kill a quarter of them as part of the entertainment.
Mind you, this is only about « extinction » in the UK, not on the planet. Just about all of these species are present across continental Europe as well. Will this be a wake up call, to Brits at least? The destruction of natural habitat, alien invasive species and historic persecution are the main causes of the declines.

Have you seen the documentary film Brexit? It was about how the Brexit campaign was run. Very interesting! Of particular interest was the innovative use of computers and AI to find disaffected voters and convince them to vote. It was very powerful -- and frightening.Mind you, this is only about « extinction » in the UK, not on the planet. Just about all of these species are present across continental Europe as well.
Brexitty thinking, perhaps??
