EU cancelled 9 May as victory day over Hitler Germany. When EU celebrates the victory now?

Both World Wars have always been remembered on the 11th November at 11:00am; I've never heard of this 9th May 'celebration'
Wars are not to be celebrated, just those lost remembered.

So much misinformation in the title.

The 9th May never was a holiday in the EU, that's to 99,9% a former USSR thing with the exception of Bosnia and Israel..
And whether EU member states choose to celebrate a day to commemorate the end of WW2 is up to them.

May 9th is as it always was May9 so this appears to be one more lie

Why May 9?
That’s a long story.

It’s the day when, in 1950, a Frenchman named Robert Schuman proposed that Europe would be a better place if nations would work together for the good of the whole.

He called this ‘the spirit of Europe’.

Europe, he proposed, should become a community of peoples united in values of equality, freedom, solidarity and peace.

His proposal kicked off the European Union as we know it today.

Which is why May 9 has been officially declared ‘Europe Day’ (still a best-kept secret in some countries).

Well, I don't suppose it's terribly important which actual day is used to mark the occasion of V-E Day, whether it's May 7th, 8th, or 9th. Just as long as it's remembered:
