Hasn't some other pills made similar claims?
There was another pill (completely natural) a few decades ago that made similar claims ... and it worked.
You would take
one pill. Over the next month, you would lose weight. At the end of the month you would take several more pills (of a different kind) to
stop losing weight.
It
wasn't a hoax. The first pill contained a bunch of tapeworm eggs. They would hatch and start consuming a lot of the food before your digestive system could. At the end of the month, you would take pills to kill off the tapeworms.
The pills at the end of the month didn't work as well as the initial pill. This left a number of people with significant tapeworm infestations.
When the secret got out, the pill quickly lost popularity ... even though tapeworms are "100% natural".
