Yea all too often I got told all through my life if you work hard, you will someday become successful.

It took almost 50 years for me to learn that actual success is strictly dependent on who you were born to, people you know, being in the right place at the right time, and receiving a substantial inheritance.

Otherwise its an odds game including desperation at the casino and the lottery machine.

I just learned to focus and adapt once the truth became clear and accept those cards I've been dealt with in life.

This is so true. And self-care is important too! I had to learn that myself.

I definitely don't get immersed in my job. I tend to use the time working to think and plan other things in my life. I still do satisfactory work.
