Scott-- I wasn't joking earlier, and I wasn't being sarcastic. I read the Catholic teaching you quoted in your post....like Gerani said, Ghandi read the Gospels but he still did not believe Jesus was the Son of God or his savior. He wasn't ignorant of Jesus' divinity, he simply rejected it.

Are you saying Ghandi IS saved in the afterlife?

    Mr_Sprinkles,

I wasn't addressed, but I will offer the Hebrew thought.
"The Just/Righteous of all Nations will have a share in the world to come."

Salvation is SOOO Easy, and the scriptures speak of Elect, be ye perfect, doers of the Word justified and more and more, keep the commandments, serve and be great, break one law and teach another the same, least in the kingdom, the way is narrow, hiway to hell is wide, many called few chosen, pick up your cross and follow me, reward with me, so many, oh, so many, set apart from faith. How can salvation be the end?

No where do you see anyone but the Elect, living and reigning with Yeshua!
Obedience and servitude are the attributes of the Elect. Fruit bearing branches.

The first ressurection is the Elect, the rest of the dead live not again till the thousand years end. The Elect is not ALL the saved, Yeshua says "Not all who say Lord, Lord---"
So, when called for duty, go above and beyond duty.

there are other ways to salvation besides christianity. thats what makes it so easy. God gave the 'messege' to everyone. almost everyone is on a search for truth.

That's right - God did give the message to everyone - He said that only through calling upon the name of Jesus can you be saved, not Muhammed, not Ghandi, not Vishnu, not Allah; Jesus and only Jesus. Read the Bible. that's what it says.

Now you've all heard as well. May God bless you and open your eyes.

" not Muhammed, not Ghandi, not Vishnu, not Allah; Jesus and only Jesus. Read the Bible. that's what it says. "

that may be your view. but God calls all of us to be open minded. God and only God.

    peace,
    gerani

But you're talking about second hand dialogue authored by self-serving apologists decades later. And why do you believe it? Because the pseudepigraphic 2 Timothy - an episle of uncertain authorship, an epistle written in the 2nd century, and an episle unreferenced before 170 CE - tells you that it is all true. That's about as airtight as cheese cloth.

So, if we reject Christ we can still be saved if we are righteous?

There are three types of people in this world, The Godly/Chosen, the ungodly/destined for the second death and those with a form of godliness/Intermidiates.
The chosen have already passed from death to life/will not be judged, will be the ones in the first ressurection/live and reign with Jesus. The rebellious ungodly are also sealed for destruction. those intermidiates are those who will stand judgement for every idle word they spoke and every action they took.
Then recieve their reward or punishment.

Mt. 10:40-42 (Will not lose his reward!)

Who am I, that I should hinder someone, God, has chosen for the kingdom?

Does God rejoice when someone litters the path of the blind?

These questions are answered in the Bible, not by Paul_an_Apostle, not by Ronald or anybody else

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Jn.5:24 (RSV) Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgement, but has passed from death to life.

Means believe on Jesus and God
    _______________________________________________________________________

    John 8:58
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"

    Means: Jesus id God
    _______________________________________________________________________
    John 10:7
Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.

    John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Means: the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ

There is no other way. If you don't accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior - your NOT saved

Therefore, if Ghandi did not accept Jesus, then Ghandi is NOT saved, and neither are you if you don't accept Jesus. It makes no difference what man says - it Does make a difference what God says.

Read the Bible people - before you debate God's salvation - please

Funny you should assume we haven't read the Bible. It would be almost as funny if we assumed you didn't read any books other than the Bible.

okay, all of us, lets just agree to disagree. i for one, believe ANYONE, believer or non believer can achieve salvation by believing in goodness and doing righteousness and fullfilling their personal dharma.

the christians believe that only people who believe in jesus can be saved, and athiests just question the existance of God so it doesnt really matter.

Rather contradictory, don't you think? How is a non-believer supposed to achieve that which he/she doesn't believe to exist?

It's the same as saying that someday you'll meet with an invisible pink unicorn.

    What separates you from Mt.23:13?

Thanks for re-translating the words of Jesus into your way.

It's funny that one must believe in the gift before believing in the giver. Thank you so much for your gift> No thank the gift for you< Is anyone as confused as I am?

What about the "Catch 22" "No one can come to the Father except through me." "No one can come to me except the Father draw him."
By the way how did you come to Yeshua? LOL!!!!!!

Unless, of course, a man says he got it from God. Then it makes all the difference.

I have read and studied the Bible...if I hadn't, my belief in it may have continued indefinitely.

"How is a non-believer supposed to achieve that which he/she doesn't believe to exist?"
believe in what exactly? i believe you can attain heaven by doing good in this world. by doing good you have already loved God indirectly. wether you believe it or not, God is not what you think it to be. God is with you, around you, IN you. even though you may not proclaim you dont believe in the fact. you live goodness. thats God. well thats what i believe.
