Does Satan Exist

Or demons, evil spirits, evil gods whatever happens to be a part of your belief.
If so, how do they influence the world, your life.

Note: This is not a debate thread so there's no intent to debate their existence. Just curious how/what people see these as.

I occasionally listen to Coast to Coast on talk radio. A lot of people make it their life's work finding out about these things.

According to my religion of Christian Matrixism, Satan does not exist in base-reality, but Satan is an agent of the sims controller testing a character's morality in a virtual reality world.

Yes in my opinion. "Demons, evil spirits, evil gods" are also all equivalent terms to me.

They influence the world by being a source of tempting thoughts, giving people obsessions (the former thing but on a more intense level, can also cause certain forms of mental illness), oppress people (pain, making your life miserable, on various levels what happened to Job), possess people (usually just the body but also can be parts of the soul if freely given, certain individuals deliberately do this), infest areas (basically a haunted house can be this), and probably more things that I have forgotten. The souls of the damned may or may not also be involved with this, I am not sure if this is possible but some other Catholics think that it is possible (for the souls of the saved can interact with us, so why not those from the burning refuse pile at the bottom of the Universe?).

They can influence individuals by these things (the first being most common) and the world at large by it. When there is an excess of bad coming from a place or leading to something demonic activity is often assumed, as it goes together. They are in the world like cockroaches and ticks, filling cities, deserted places, the air above us, and so on. When a person dies they will be accused by demons and will have to "pass through" that area, which is going to be incredibly disturbing and disorienting as one goes and is at their Particular Judgment.

They are fought off by prayer, fasting, and Sacramentals (signs of effects of Christ-won grace, when piously used [the power comes from Christ not the object in itself] they remit minor sins, drive away evil spirits, and prepare the soul from grace [they are not a source of grace in themselves]). Some Sacramentals include holy water, holy oil, holy salt, blessed rosaries, the Sign of the Cross (also a prayer), various medals and scapulars to wear, prayers written on objects, crucifixes, icons, statues, and so on.

Very common prayer practices against them (especially tempting thoughts) is anti-rhetikos, translated best in my opinion as "talking back," a thought is proposed and refuted with a Scripture (like what the Lord Jesus did with Satan during His trial in the wilderness), other short prayers, and the Sign of the Cross.

Fasting is just keeping yourself mortified so you are not so easily suggestible by passions and demons, and have the will to resist. Literal fasting and other mortifications are common.

Also not to forget to mention the big one that everyone loves (except probably the people who are immediately dealing with it): exorcism.

They aren't to be really feared (by Christians) as Christ is better, but spiritual warfare in this way and their activity is just a common part of life, like keeping pests away. St. Paul says: "Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil, because our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Because of this, take up the full armor of God, in order that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand. Stand therefore, girding your waist with truth, and putting on the breastplate of righteousness, and binding shoes under your feet with the preparation of the good news of peace, in everything taking up the shield of faith, with which you are able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one, and receive the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, with all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the Spirit, and to this end being alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints..."

As for Satan: that is a role anyone can be (the Lord Jesus said that St. Peter was Satan to Him once when he opposed His mission), an "opp" as they say, or an accuser. Also it just refers to the most intelligent of demons/evil spirits/evil gods, as there is a hierarchy based on intelligence among the pure spirits (the better ones understanding more in a more complete way).

That's the basic overview of my position on 'em anyway.

I'll just mention in Scientology these were OTs, Operating Thetans. Souls/spirits, individuals like you or I just no longer in possession of their on body. They could take over another's body although ownership is kind of a hazy idea since you are basically a thetan who took possession of your body at birth. Occasionally you'll have one body inhabited by several thetans struggling for control. Sometimes they can seem like the devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other whispering thoughts/ideas into your inner ear.

Some of these OTs had even learn how to kill the physical body. Apparently this became a game for some.

I believe in Asuras, or Rakshasas, and they can be like demons, but they aren't really demons, at least not in the Christian sense of the word. If Satan is real, he's probably an Asura (Oddly enough, I see Yahweh as being more of an Asura than I do Satan, but that's just me).

Christian matrixism? What's that?

Christian Matrixism has God pegged as being a sims controller, a reality based virtual reality programmer of human consciousness. Jesus Christ is God's incarnated character who was resurrected in virtual reality.

Our genetic code's creator has left this mathematical pattern in our genetic code conveying to us Christian Matrixists the symbol of an Egyptian triangle as well as the number 37 embedded in our genetic code.
Eight of the canonical amino acids can be sufficiently defined by the composition of their codon's first and second base nucleotides. The nucleon sum of these amino acids' side chains is 333 (=37 * 3 squared), the sun of their block nucleons (basic core structure) is 592 (=37 * 4 squared), and the sum of their total nucleons is 925 (=37 * 5 squared ). With 37 factored out, this results in 3 squared + 4 squared = 5 squared, which is representative of an Egyptian triangle.

According to Christian Matrixism, The Egyptian triangle depicted in our genetic code is symbolic of God's three characters, the Trinity, revealed to us simulated beings,. The mathematical pattern of the number 37 being used as a key factor for conveying an Egyptian triangle is linked to the gematria value of 37 appearing in the Hebrew language of Genesis 1:1.

You shall have no gods before the creator of the heavens and earth, life's creator!

According to Christian Matrixism, there are signs of us living in a simulation:

1. Crude simulations and virtual realities have already been simulated by computers .
A study conducted by Henry Markram and his team at the Blue Brain project have successfully simulated elements of a rat’s neocortical column, a complex layer of brain tissue common to all mammalian species. " Henry Markram at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and his team built their model based on experimental measurements of rat brain slices. The simulation represents roughly 37 million synapses, or neuronal connections, in the brain region that receives sensory information from the whiskers and other parts of the body. Using the model, the team simulated rat whisker movement and saw similar neuronal responses to those observed in rat experiments."

Computer model of rat-brain part - Nature.

I realize a computer simulation of a rat's neocortical column is nowhere near the complexity of a computer simulation of an entire living human brain, but this does demonstrate at least a bit of progress so far being made towards an entire human brain's consciousness being simulated by a computer.

Perhaps when scientists have figured out how to read the actual results of a consciousness simulation, then the simulation hypothesis will become a widely accepted theory.

2. Wave-function collapse - Matter exists as a probability wave that collapses to a particle upon observation. Wave-function collapse would be expected in a simulated reality, because computational resources would be conserved by only simulating observed matter.

3. Matrix glitches - Paranormal phenomenon might happen in a simulation where the rules governing the simulation are disrupted or changed

4 Compromises in simulation algorithms - The human mind and the internet use very similar algorithms or methods to manage the flow of information., these methods often take short cuts to conserve energy or conserve computational resources, this might be expected in a computer simulation.

Study: Internet, Human Brain Use Similar Algorithms to Process Info

5. Computer code found in string theory.

According to Christian Matrixism, the steps to having eternal life are 1. Brain-Computer Interfaces 2. Replacement of Brain Neurons with Synthetic Circuitry 3. Built Simulations 4. Permanent Residency within the Matrix.

nice to know; there is so many things wrong with it though, but that's for another time and place.

I tend to us "asuric forces" which I identify with the lower astral planes. I don't believe in a satan as a separate entity especially not in a Manichean sense.

The asuric forces work through fear, anger, lies and seek to drag people down into despair, depression and weakness.

It may take time, but truth is stronger than lies, light banishes darkness and the longing for joy in every heart eventually banishes sorrow.

Duality is the universal principle behind balance and harmony, like yin and yang keeps the Tao in permanent balance, so the principle of good and evil, light and darkness is present to maintain the balanced and harmony of the universe in its entirety, which many understand to be that represented by the concept of God.

Isaiah 45:6-7 - thy God is one. I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil. I the Lord, that does all these things.

People throw the name Satan around but what exactly is it represented by the concept? Presumably it is the opposite of the highest ranking good angel, Satan is the highest ranking bad angel. And similarly, demons, asuras, evil spirits, etc., are the opposite of the good angels. But the question then begs, what are these non-physical angelic beings, good and evil? The physical universe constitutes only 5% of the mass of the universe, I would be less than open minded to believe that it is devoid of entities that are a part of creation, and just like in this world, there are good and evil people, this principle of complementary opposites applies.

First in human life is a human standing on gods earth in gods heaven as first self a human.

No Satan.

Human by want design theories science conjures Satan. Satan hence came after god as gods body was changed by a human.

Was how it was always taught.

Taught as an assessment of causes why life changed was told why life was changed. It was advice only.

Does it really matter if Satan literally exists? The idea is not to give in to temptation, regardless of teh origin of that temptaiton.

Satan is real he is Gods older brother who over powers him at night. He is the one that will escort the souls of the dead into the underworld quantum hades. which is a sub zero republican emperial realm ruled exclusivly by Satan and his 1 percent. If you are part of the 99 percent in this realm you are **** out of luck.

..how do they influence the world, your life?

satan used to be a pious being but fell from grace by disobeying God, when He created mankind.
satan refused to see mankind as "higher" than himself.

Many people deny the existence of God and his guidance.
The force of evil works through all of us .. believers and disbelievers alike.

The only way to avoid evil, is to remember God.

Not according to Hinduism. We have our various unsavory beings and spirits but nothing like the devil or demons of Christianity. The asuras and rakshasas (erroneously translated as "demons") are just another race of beings. Some are actually quite pious and devoted to the gods. Mandodari, Trijata, Vibhishana and Prahlada come to mind as being devotees of Vishnu. There are a few that attempt to lead others astray. Ravana was one who unsuccessfully tried for a year to seduce Srimati Sita when she was in captivity.

Since when is Satan "God's older brother"? I know of no religion that teaches this.

I believe there are spiritual entities that have malicious intentions and can be harmful to interact with, but it's like how there's malicious living people who can be harmful to interact with. Like the embodied, spirits have their own intentions and agendas.
