I don't think governments are very trustworthy by nature, so I don't trust mine. But in an international comparison, the German government is on the more trustworthy side.Being there are several countries represented here on RF, how many of you trust your government when relating to being upfront with truths, your well being, etc.
Ditto. From across the pond.I trust the current U.K. government to be the same self serving, dishonest, blatantly corrupt bunch of liars, kleptocrats and fools they have shown themselves to be for years now. I also trust they’ll be out on their ears at the next general election, which can’t come soon enough.
The question is, do I trust the next government to put right the damage these criminal idiots have done to our country and it’s reputation? Jury’s out, for now.
Would it have to spy on you if it did?Another question. Does my government trust me (if it even knows and acknowledges that I exist)?

It depends. When it comes to things like weather reports and traffic conditions, I have no compelling reason to not trust government when it comes to that kind of information (allowing for some margin of error). It doesn't matter what kind of political system it is, there will always be some things the government will mostly tell the truth about.
If they can, it won't be overnight. There's so much to fix, it will be difficult to prioritise.I trust the current U.K. government to be the same self serving, dishonest, blatantly corrupt bunch of liars, kleptocrats and fools they have shown themselves to be for years now. Sad but true.A few years, I walked into my office and found one of my team using the phone. He was a good man, so I gave him some privacy. A little later he apologised, but he had to make a call urgently. He was from a small Caribbean nation. His sister, a teacher, had recently come to London on a visit. He had just found out that she was now considering coming here to live and work. He was nearly in tears when he said that the thought of his wonderful niece and nephew growing up to be like the schoolkids he sees near his home was breaking his heart, so he had to beg her not to come.
I have seen first hand the decimation of our health service and armed forces. When I walk the streets where I grew up, I regularly see homeless and mentally ill people. I see junkies and prostitutes, something unthinkable in my younger day.
Trust, the only thing about any of the more recent British governments, certainly since Thatcher and Blair, that I trust in, is their ability to earn my total contempt.
