I have my husband and seven cats I love to pieces and I don't need any more than that.
I used to exercise a lot but since I have been working from home the exercise has been off and on. I get on a schedule and then something comes up and I am off the schedule again. I know I have the will to do it and I like exercise, I just cannot seem to find the time. I would like to travel but my husband does not like to travel so we don't travel anymore. Maybe someday we will travel again when Covid is not an issue.
I don't do any organizing or any "home projects" or "yard projects" anymore and it shows! I just cannot make myself do them so I don't do them. It is not that I mind work, I work constantly, I just don't like that kind of work.

I have no desire to be with anyone in person and socialize. That's the beauty of Zoom activities, there is little socializing. I don't like a lot of socializing. Just a little, that's enough. Then it becomes boring for me. But that seems to be changing. I am more gabby in person. Maybe it's the drug I take for Tardive Dyskenesia? I am driving my wife Sara crazy sometimes. She's not used to this. She's used to her talking and me listening. I have a bad memory these days too, so I interrupt her sometimes in fear I won't get the chance to say what I want to say. She hates that. A better to say this is that this frustrates her. She gets over this quickly, don't worry.

Same here. I have no desire to be with anyone in person and socialize. But that seems to be changing. I am more gabby in person. You should see me at the grocery store. It is as if I have not seen anyone in ages, but that is because I don't see anyone except at the grocery stores or the vet clinic.

It could be this forum that had changed you Duane. I know it has changed me so I am more talkative in person now and not anxious around people at all. I can remember before you came here you said you were not good at communicating with people on a personal level on forums but I can see you have changed a lot. :)

I hate those Zoom meetings. The most I will do is call in if there is a Feast but I don't want to see people's faces on a computer screen nor do want them to see me in my house!

In recent years I have only driven the back roads to pick up cats so I really don't have any favorite roads.

When we used to go on vacations to the Oregon coast we would take Hwy 101 which is scenic, but that was eons ago.

    Generally yes.
I have a good home, in a great part of a good city in a good country.
I have a wife I love, and three daughters I love. They all seem to love me too, weirdly.

My main issue is just how busy life can be.
Mostly, this relates to my work. I have a good job, and am well paid, but it's not always an easy job, and it can dominate my week a little more than I'd like.

Get it down to three days a week, and it would be lovely.

I do but I told hubby that I wouldn't mind selling our house, buying an RV and traveling the country. Working remote for both of us, and sight seeing. The minimalist lifestyle is attractive to me right now.

That sounds nice. I like the minimalist lifestyle but unfortunately we own three homes and we have seven cats.
It would not matter anyway because my husband would not want to travel. I cannot even get him to leave the house.

Since my husband is working, I travel with female friends when not traveling with him. Maybe you can do that sort of thing. I guess I have OCD tendencies, so I feel the strong need to pare down my belongings as I get older, but I get impatient, so I end up with multiple projects and nothing gets done quickly. I am trying though. Thanks for your post and this thread.

I am the one who is still working. My husband is 10 years older than me but he worked till he was 73 years old. I could have retired two years ago but I keep working because I like working and I like my job and my boss and the fact that I can work at home.

My husband retired over five years ago even though he is not yet drawing his pension because we don't need the money, but he will get the money retroactively when he signs up. Meanwhile we have his social security and I am drawing 50% of his social security until I start drawing my own and we also have my pay.

I wish I had a friend or friends I could travel with because my husband would not care if I traveled without him, and we have plenty of money for travel.

I also have OCD tendencies but it is not helping me with the house or yard since my OCD is now all directed at this forum. The situation is pretty dire because I cannot even go in half my house or my garage or in the yard since I have not been there for so long and I am afraid of what I might find. My next counseling session will be about this.

A part of me would like to sell this house and downsize because we no longer need a house this size (we bought it 12 years ago when we had 19 cats) but we keep it because at our age I am thinking ahead to when we might need a caretaker living with us in the future since we have no children to care for us. Half the house is empty and could be made into a two bedroom apartment.

My own life situation is what inspired me to post this thread but I am glad if other people are benefiting from it. :)
I don't think anyone except God can help me with my life situation but you never know who might show up here.

I like my lifestyle mostly. I'm on the low end of the pay spectrum, but thanks to the help of my parents I'm in a good home in a good part of Sydney. I get on well with my wife and daughter, and apart from RF and Netflix I enjoy going bike riding as often as I can fit it in.

So I wouldn't change much other than that if I were capable (given the meds I'm on) of a higher paying job i guess I would take it on, but that's not likely to happen so I'm enjoying my active lifestyle.

Yes, and we have no mortgages.

The first house was our former residence where we lived for 17 years but we moved because we had too many cats for a house that size and because my husband did not like having only a wood stove for heat. We had just paid it off when we moved.

We bought the house we live in how in 2008 because we needed a bigger house and it has central heat. We kept the other house and made it into a rental but it has been a major nightmare off and on since 2009. We had some good tenants but mostly bad ones, but I have learned some hard lessons so the last two have been excellent.

The third house we bought in 2010 with the intention of making it a vacation home and as an investment since I got it as a foreclosure for a third of the market value. I was looking to the future, towards retirement in 10 years. I had lost my job eight years before that and got demoted to a job with much lower pay because of state budget cuts so I knew I would need extra income for retirement. However, the same day we closed on the vacation house I got a new job back in my field although I had to work my way up the pay scale all over again.

The third house never became a vacation house for us to use because I never had time to deal with all that would it entail to rent it to vacationers so we rented it as a monthly rental. I have only had three different tenants renting it because the one who lives there now has been there since 2013. However he has always been behind on his rent which has caused me an inordinate amount of stress. I only allowed him stay because he kept promising to pay his debt but he never got caught up. Then with Covid and the eviction moratorium he has paid no rent since June 2020 so he owed me $18,000! Fortunately, the county rental assistance program is going to pay all of that even though he does not deserve it. I have been working on getting that money since March. They will pay his rent through the end of August but he will owe rent starting in September and I am going to insist he pay or vacate. Enough is enough.

Thanks for sharing. Sydney, that is a great place to live. I know homes there are rather expensive because I looked into buying real estate there a while ago.

I used to be an avid bike rider before March 2020 when the state ordered everyone to work from home. Before that I rode my bike 24 miles a day to and from work four days a week. I tried to keep riding after i started working from home but it did not last long so now I am really out of shape, but I am still healthy. I really need to get back in the saddle or at least maintain my walking routine as I have been in, but I never seem to have the time. my health could decline if I don't get the exercise I need.

Brian2 on this forum who I know from way back on other forums lives in Melbourne, also a beautiful city. I was thinking about Australia for retirement but I have decided to stay in the U.S. for now, now that the government seems to be improving. But who knows what the future holds anymore, I can only live one day at a time.

No, not necessarily. Did you miss the part where he said:
"You are destined by Him, in this world and hereafter, to partake of their benefits, to share in their joys, "

I am starting to see a glimmer of hope that I might get some of those benefits them before I die.

My lifestyle really picked up once I got out of my first apartment. It was getting cramped and I think I was a pain to the landlady. I don't really remember much for three or four years after that, but I'm told it was pretty fun.

My lifestyle is pretty simple now, but over the last two years, I have been altering it slowly with an eye to improvement. So far, the changes have been successful.

So far, nobody has a lifestyle they are not happy with; either that or those people who are unhappy with their lifestyles choose not to share and that is fine with me.

What benefits you get in this world that you cannot get without belief in God / Allah? Diseases, disasters and false hope?

You could always turn your camera off. Oh, I forgot. You don't want to see their faces on a computer screen. There's then no hope of you ever Zooming to one of my devotionals. (I sent you an Email concerning my devotionals and other more serious things)

There's still lots of room for improvement (I've still not made any friends here), but it's getting better. And I make tons more money than I've ever made driving people around (ride"share"). Even treated my car to some goodies recently. And it sparkles and shines inside and out, and with many angles and lighting conditions the color is "the surrounding world."
And my next step will be getting to LA, for school and needed health insurance. I may also get back into my field of psychology if I can find a place I want to work for (I make too much money otherwise for the stress).
And I'm enjoying bett quality things, amassing more clothes, and becoming me.
