Im suddenly fond of peace lillies...they have em at Walmart and the ones I have for my shrine have been in bloom for well over a month...

There are better looking flowers, but my experience is they die rather quickly...

Cobra lily. Because it eats flies. And the skunk cabbage because if it smelled like a rose we would think they are amazing. But it smells like a sulfer explosion so we tend to under love this beauties!!

Wild rose, prairie variety, because of the scent ... for hardy roses, the variety called Centennial, here in climate Zone 2/3.

Hibiscus, and at my home in s.e. Michigan, I have what's about a 20 year old batch of "hardy hibiscus" that produces myriads of bright pink flowers with some that are larger than a saucer and some even getting about a foot wide.

several years ago I allowed a 'bush' to grow alongside the deck
I thought it was pretty

a friend (my martial arts instructor) called it smart weed
it can make your skin burn rubbing against it

but I thought it was pretty

so......a few weeks latter I was driving home from work
two miles to the west at a stop light I noticed a putrid smell

coming closer to the house the smell got worse

I happen to step out the back door unto the deck
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!

and on the far side of the deck fence was the pretty bush
COVERED in Japanese beatles

THOUSANDS of them

eating my bush and fornicating

now don't get me wrong......I believe in eating and fornicating

but I got out the RoundUp and killed the bush

the smell had to go

I love the appearance of daffodils in spring. And then the candlestick flowers on the horse chestnuts.

and then.....Canadian thistle

I let one grow
It got to be head high

my friend told me there would be one flower on top at maturity
and then......thistles everywhere

the plant got to be fiercely awesome
a large Christmas tree with thousands of small thorns
scary in a way

I did not wait for the flower

Tricky question.....
My favorite flower is the hosta's, but this is because of how
looks with the whole plant, rather than just the flower itself.
The flowers are relatively tiny. I like the violet ones most.

I don't have a big problem with those.
Either they don't attack mine much, or my landscape standards are rather slack.
But every several years the ROTF (rats of the forest, aka deer), will mow down
banks of hostas.

I've always favored the crocus, as it's one of the first flowers of spring. Here are a few that came up in my yard a few years back.

I love they way they contrast with the snow as they grow through it.

Just be aware never to give chrysanthemums to a french person unless its at a funeral. They are considered to be the flower for the dead
