Ok, well it is illegal for Jews to marry Non-Jews in Israel, and the government funds Lehava to the tune of $175,000 per year.

What does that tell you about Jewish people in general? Nothing, but it does tell you something about Israel.

I have to agree. It is not something for Israel to be proud of.

Trying to prevent your sister from marrying a person of a different ethnic group is something a group of thugs would do.

Likewise, the fact that the couple applied for an injunction against this bigoted, sexist group to protect themselves from harassment and it was denied is not something for Israel to be proud of.

The ultra-right in Israel remind me of nothing so much as British football hooligans, with a soup├žonne of neo-nazism.

Certainly. But that is not in and of itself what makes them thugs.

It all comes down to how far they go in the trying. It is possible to respectfully oppose a personal decision of someone you care about, you know.

Marching on someone's wedding chanting "Death to Arabs" with the intention of ruining their wedding day makes them thugs.

Still waiting for those names and numbers.

If you made a mistake, is it too much to ask you admit it?

but it cant become a continous activity on all wowen.if one of family, you say you care, you give your advice and that's it. there are also somethings you have no right of opposing. let alone it being respectful. when a person will eat, what s/he will eat, who they will love or respect.

Well when I suggested that sexism was involved you were kind of taken aback.

Well, it is technically possible to oppose eating habits, but I think I see your point.

Only because I wasn't aware she was just referring to just that one group as I explained in post #119. Secondly, this still does not absolve her of the fact that she said some here were defending the words of the protesters against Arabs, and both LD and I asked whom supposedly did this, and she won't respond.

Well there are some here who did suggest that opposition to "intermarriage" is not bigotry. And that sort of is an apologetic for what these protesters are doing.

Levite, Luis Dantas, Jayhawker and many others all defended the group's racist ideology to some degree or other while (faintly, Imo) criticizing their tactics.

The specific form of defense was denying that Lehava's ideology is fundamentally bigoted and glossing over the "death to Arabs" aspect of the group.
