Do we have a moral/societal/ethical duty to have children?

Do we as humans have any sort of duty to procreate?

Discuss. :D

We would only have a duty to procreate if there was worry for perserving our species, in my opinion.

Otherwise, we're not obligated to procreate and many of us - shouldn't.

Some people in this world had a moral and ethical duty to not have children, too bad they had kids.
Such as that woman who drown all her kids, and the guy who kept his daughters locked up for 20ish years and had sex with them and his own grandkids that he fathered.

:(

On the Op though, No.
There is already too many kids in foster homes and on the streets, starving, and being used as sex slaves,
if anything, the gov should have a ethical duty to create some sort of system to determine if parents can legally have kids.

So if all of humanity substituted one or two intended children with cats, it might be our salvation?
Is this your meaning?

Not really, just that I'm too busy to assist with the biodiversity destruction programme.
