Def Leppard star Rick Allen was viciously assaulted by a teenager in Florida, where the group were co-headlining a performance, it has been claimed.

The 59-year-old had been in town to perform with the band at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Sunday, alongside Mötley Crüe.

However, he was left shaken when he was reportedly knocked to the ground by a 19-year-old, in a shocking attack.

According to reports, the drummer – who lost an arm in a 1984 car crash – stepped outside of the hotel for a cigarette.

Max Hartley was hiding behind a pillar and allegedly pounced on the musician at full speed, knocking him to the ground.

A police report, obtained by the Daily Mail, said that Allen fell backwards and hit his head on the ground during the incident.

An unnamed woman is thought to have rushed out of the hotel to help, but the youngster allegedly pushed her to the ground as well.

She reportedly attempted to run back to the venue before Hartley allegedly grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back.

He then fled the scene and went to another nearby hotel, but was found allegedly damaging vehicles in a car park and taken into custody.

The Daily Mail reports that Hartley was arrested and charged with two counts of battery, four counts of criminal mischief, and abusing an elderly or disabled adult.

Not much about the suspect or why he would do such a despicable thing. I hope Allen is okay. I like Def Leppard.

What the heck? I, too, hope Rick's alright. He's one of my heroes. He's the main reason I tolerated Def Leppard going more pop/commercial.
