Debate: Does it Proof you are a fool, or just a smart-a.s.s?

I get a crush if ego get a crash

If other is right, debating him proofs I am a fool
If other is wrong, him debating proofs he's a fool

The fault all lies in the concepts of proof...

Do you accept logic and empirical evidence as the only yardstick? If so, then all you did was limit the criteria to such a small scope no other information would be considered valid. Of course, that only works if the people you are debating with are stupid enough to accept that limitation. :D

There is inference, anecdotal evidence, and even subjective experiences are valid data as well. Essentially, the only way to win a debate is to trick your opponent into believing none of that matters or that they are less informed because of it. :D It's just poker with ideas...

Only a fool would think they were a smart ***, a debate is for absolute.

The problem lies in the fact that anyone who understand the rules of logic and all the various fallacies can demolish almost any comments if they chose to do so, but it hardly leads to a convivial, friendly attitude that one would wish on any social media platform, even one where debate is to be expected. Such discussions usually descend into farce and have few viewers. And not much is achieved anyway.

So injecting a bit of humour is the preferred option. :p :p :p

You're not a fool for being proved wrong. Everyone is wrong now and then. It's childish to expect otherwise for yourself. You're a fool when you're proved wrong but refuse to see it.

I suppose the larger question here is who doesn't find arithmetic logical?

Well there is arithmetic that may seem illogical but is logical was my point.

Think about situations where 1+1=1

Example, a beaker collects 1 + 1 falling raindrops

I look in the beaker to see 1+ 1 = 1

I see you too, like me, are a logician on the internet!
