Blessing Over Food

This ritual is one. The food is one. We who offer the food are one. The fire of hunger is also one. All action is one. We who understand this are one.

May There Be Peace Within

May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be...
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you...
May you be content knowing you are a child of God...
Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of you...

Morning Prayer

Dear Lord,
So far I've done all right.
I haven't gossipped,
haven't lost my temper,
haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent.
I'm really glad about that.

But in a few minutes, God,
I'm going to get out of bed.
And from then on,
I'm going to need a lot more help.

Traditional Blessing and Healing Chant

Just as the soft rains fill the streams,
pour into the rivers and join together in the oceans,
so may the power of every moment of your goodness
flow forth to awaken and heal all beings,
Those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.
By the power of every moment of your goodness
May your heart's wishes be soon fulfilled
as completely shining as the bright full moon,
as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.

By the power of every moment of your goodness
May all dangers be averted and all disease be gone.
May no obstacle come across your way.
May you enjoy fulfillment and long life.

For all in whose heart dwells respect,
who follow the wisdom and compassion, of the Way,
May your life prosper in the four blessings
of old age, beauty, happiness and strength.

Prayer for Ash Wednesday

God of the desert, as we follow Jesus into the unknown, may we recognise the tempter when he comes; let it be your bread we eat, your world we serve and you alone we worship.

Blessing Over Food

Lord most giving and resourceful,
I implore you;
make it your will
that this people enjoy
the goods and riches you naturally give,
that naturally issue from you,
that are pleasing and savory,
that delight and comfort,
though lasting but briefly,
passing away as if in a dream.

Doing the Work of Our Calling

That it may please thee to inspire us, in our several callings, to do the work which thou givest us to do with singleness of heart as thy servants, and for the common good, we beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.

Maize,
I hope you won't mind if I join you in providing some daily prayers; please let me know if you would rather that I started a different thread for them.

At the rising of your sun
Lord God, Creator of light,
at the rising of your sun each morning,
let the greatest of all lights - your love -
rise, like the sun, within my heart. (Author unknown)

For Those Who Travel

Be mindful, O Lord, of those who travel by land, by sea, and by air; of the old and young, the sick, the suffering, the sorrowing, the afflicted, the captives, the needy and the poor; and upon them all send forth Thy mercies, for Thou art the Giver of all good things.

For everyone...
Dear Heavenly Father, through thy divine grace let me feel the Holy Spirit within me. Grant me the innocence of the Fool, help me to let go of earthly fears and walk in peace with Thee this day. Let my ears listen only to Thy higher wisdom. Let me walk freely, knowing that I am protected by Thy love. I long for the innocent faith of a child, and because I am a child Of God, I know it to be my birthright. As I walk into this new day, I pray that I shall always be aware of thy Holy presence. I know that only fear separates me from the comfort of Thy divine Love. This day I will try to express my Love for Thee, dear Father, in all that I do and say. I will rid myself of fear, which is the shadow of man, and with Thy holy blessing, walk in heavenly light. Amen

Prayer for Peace, Love, and Happiness

Let me be loved, let me be happy, let me be peaceful.
Let my friends be happy, loved, and peaceful.
Let my perceived enemies be happy, loved, and peaceful.
Let all beings be happy, loved, and peaceful.
Let the whole world experience these things.

This day, dear Lord, my needs weigh heavy with the fears and unhapiness of others. There is so much that I want to accomplish, and I realize that some of those things are beyond my control, or understanding. I am in need of thy divine strength; I know that all I have to do is to reach out and let thy Love permeate my whole being. If I forget, dear Father, let me feel the comfort of Thy everlasting life, and let me recognise Thee in everyone I see today. When I am called upon to make decisions that affect not only me, but others, let me come to Thee for heavenly guidance and reassurance. May I ever be conscious that success is only of this earth and all that I do should be with Thee in mind. Thou art forever with me, in every hurt and in every hope. I pray that Thy presence bless all that I do today and that others may perceive Thy holy light through me, and be drawn to your ever loving arms. Amen

Zen Vows

Though the many beings are numberless,
I vow to save them.
Though greed, hatred, and ignorance rise endlessly,
I vow to cut them off.
Though the Dharma is vast and fathomless,
I vow to understand it.
Though Buddha's Way is beyond attainment,
I vow to embody it fully.

Psalm of Comfort

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee, O God.

My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: 'When shall I come and appear before God?'

My tears have been my food day and night, while they say unto me all the day: 'Where is Thy God?'

These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, how I passed on with the throng, and led them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping holyday.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why moanest thou within me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise Him for the salvation of His countenance.

Psalm of Comfort

As the deer longs for the water-brooks,
so longs my soul for you, O God.

My soul is athirst for God, athirst for the living God;
when shall I come to appear before the presence of God?

My tears have been my food day and night,
while all day long they say to me, "Where now is your God?"

I pour out my soul when I think on these things;
how I went with the multitude and led them into the house of God,

With the voice of praise and thanksgiving,
among those who keep holy-day.

Why are you so full of heaviness, O my soul?
and why are you so disquieted within me?

Put your trust in God;
for I will yet give thanks to him, who is the help of my countenance, and my God.

How can I thank Thee, dear Lord, for the many blessings of love and life that surround me? May I ever be aware of Thy blessings as I approach this new day. Let me fill my heart and soul with fresh hope, let the love that passeth all understanding be mine this day. I pray for the fullness of Thy mercy to relieve me of my anxieties. I give thanks for all of my loved ones and I pray that I will have the strength to let them know today how much I am blessed by their love and concern for my well being. I am a child of God, and I am well blessed, and this day I will feel abundant with the love of God and my dear ones. The light that I feel in this prayer I will carry as a living flame within me. I pray that all those I meet today will share the warmth that is mine and will feel the strength of this beautiful blessing.
Amen

Prayer of One Who Is Dying

Loving God,
receive my body and soul
unto your care.
Bless me
as I return to the dust
from whence you created me.
Bless me as I enter the paradise
which you promised me.
Bless my family and friends
as I depart from them.
Amen.

Prayer of Thanks to God

Almighty God, and most merciful father, who didst command the children of Israel to offer a daily sacrifice to thee, that thereby they might glorify and praise thee for thy protection both night and day, receive, O Lord, my morning sacrifice which I now offer up to thee; I yield thee humble and hearty thanks that thou has preserved me from the danger of the night past, and brought me to the light of the day, and the comforts thereof, a day which is consecrated to thine own service and for thine own honor.
