    Sucks, but I can't say I'm surprised.

You mean the democrats attached it to a bill and tried to ram it through, and the republicans held true to their bigotry and didn't go for it?

Wow. Politics as usual is alive and well here in the ol' US of A.

Obama saw to it months ago that the bill wouldn't have any teeth, anyway. There are plenty of bigots on both sides of the aisle.

    Filibastards.

Obama needs to put on his Big Boy pants and repeal it with an Executive Order.
You know, just like Clinton did when he implemented DADT in the first place.

Got to love that 41% supermajority the Republicans have.

LOL true dat. Will wonders never cease?

Oh and the four democrats who voted against it didn't help "their" cause either. But at least they bucked "the establishment" - which is always interesting, regardless of how I feel about the particular issue.

That being said, I am frankly amazed that DADT is even a policy at all - considering how STUPID the whole concept is. The very idea that gays and lesbians can't serve their country "as well as" heterosexuals - and be fully and openly integrated into our armed forces - is so ridiculous and IGNORANT that I can't believe ANY Senator can even discuss this with a straight face.

Amazing. What very odd times we live in.

    I agree.

Fittingly enough, I need to write a policy position paper on DADT this week.

You know this is why I really hate both parties and our government. They think they get to decide who's entitled to rights or not, and apparently, being gay makes you somehow unable to serve in the military (not that I can see why a gay person would want to anyway).

The story was written about 40-45 minutes before I posted it.

    Again, what is your point?

    My point should be obvious:

    Is it December?

It was when I posted the link.
Seeing as I posted the link 40-45 minutes AFTER the linked article was published, I fail to understand what you are getting at.
