Coups - an interesting read

Regiomontanus

Ματαιοδοξία ματαιοδοξιών! Όλα είναι ματαιοδοξία.
An interesting read on coups; very timely: ‘This Must Be Your First’

On a related side note, after what happened in DC last week I was reminded of a Sinclaire Lewis novel I read decades ago. I just reread it.

The novel 1984 is often cited these days as prescient in some ways. This novel is even more so:

It Can't Happen Here - Wikipedia

"The novel was published during the heyday of fascism in Europe, which was reported on by Dorothy Thompson, Lewis's wife.[3] The novel describes the rise of Berzelius "Buzz" Windrip, a demagogue who is elected President of the United States, after fomenting fear and promising drastic economic and social reforms while promoting a return to patriotism and "traditional" values. After his election, Windrip takes complete control of the government and imposes totalitarian rule with the help of a ruthless paramilitary force, in the manner of European fascists such as Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. The novel's plot centers on journalist Doremus Jessup's opposition to the new regime and his subsequent struggle against it as part of a liberal rebellion."

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
So we have fascism on one side and Marxist socialism on the other. Both want to take over government.

Rock and a hard place.

Speaking ex ano? Neither fascism nor Marxism are mentioned in the article. That is not what it is about.

You haven't read it, have you?

That's what the fascists try to tell you to make their solution more palatable. Don't fall for the false dichotomy.
