Coping with the loss of a pet

Hope you are all well.

I had no idea where to post this - I do keep saying that don't I?

My sister recently lost a pet dog to illness.

It is like losing a member of your family - at least it is for most pet owners.

It's actually a rather large site! I found it while looking up mental health info ...

Enjoy your day!

It's not LIKE losing a mber of your family, it IS losing one. Unless you dont consider adoptees family

I guess it all depends on how you define "family" - some people would extend their definition to include everyone as part of the human "family" .. or "earthlings" ...

But I get your point!

All the best!

When I was a kid, I actually got along better with the dogs than with most members of my family.

At least when the dogs got to be a certain age they would stop stealing my shoes.

I can sure relate!

Most dogs are nicer than many of the human beings you are likely 2 be related 2 ...

I like this quote -

“If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.”

Two great sayings on pets by enlightened masters...

Practice love first on animals, they are more sensitive. ~ George Gurdjieff

For many people who are so lost in their minds, so much involved in their thought processes, the only moments they have when they are not trapped in that is when they are relating to their animal, their pet. ~ Eckhart Tolle

We recently lost a beloved cat to a speeding motorist. So much personality, cheek, pride, mischief, enjoyment will always be missed.

She had a real name but usually went by the Spoonerism "Cooking Fat"

Thanks for sharing - took me a while to work out the Spoonerism :)

All the best and condolences for your loss - cats can be amazing pets too!
