Personally, I don't feel it's truly alive until the fetus is able to live without being hooked up to a bunch of machines. Up until then, I believe it's a parasite. I don't see conception as a time to consider it alive because it's only one cell. If someone's going to call another person a murderer for aborting something comprised of a few hundred cells... well.
