Compassion

I think they are different, close, but different. Compassion implies a loving nature towards something, sympathy is merely feeling sorry for something.

I think it is a natural human trait, but it must be cultivated.

I think compassionand sympathy can be passed on. I mean if a child is raised with compassionate and sympathetic parents, he will be compassionate and sympathetic, if not, he/she will not.

I believe compassion as we know it is learned. Maybe there is compassion in the heart of a baby, but we would not understand it. But perhaps compassion is always there, and like maize said, needs to be cultivated. I agree on this.
