Harvard, Yale under investigation over foreign gifts totaling hundreds of millions of dollars

With the socialist slant that the Ivey League Universities seem to promote, one can wonder if they simply have been bought by foreign countries?

I'm struggling with this report. It looks as though the law requires declaration only of individual foreign gifts >$250k or of foreign "control". Yet nowhere in the report, at least as I read it, is there any evidence that either of these conditions has been breached.

Is there something I have missed, or is this a non-story worked up to smear these institutions?
