This year, for the first time, our village is holding a marché de Noël. Only a day, 8th Dec. Hoping it is a success that will be repeated annually

Yeah, I know that. I was just referring to my first exposure to Christmas markets.
Heh heh. I used to tease my dear wife, now deceased, who was French, that Alsace was really German. That used to get her going. But in fact, the place names, the cuisine and the wine are really rather more German than French, it seems to me. And then there is the history of the region......
