Welllll ... he has a blog at that same Psych site! -

Research by Darlene Francis and Michael Meaney reveals that sympathetic environments -- those filled with warm touch -- create individuals better suited to survival and reproduction, as Darwin long ago surmised. Rat pups who receive high levels of tactile contact from their mothers -- in the form of licking, grooming, and close bodily contact -- later as mature rats show reduced levels of stress hormones in response to being restrained, explore novel environments with greater gusto, show fewer stress-related neurons in the brain, and have more robust immune systems.

Hate yourself happiness - from a Pema quote???

Several in fact!

More psych blogs! -

Some people have the misfortune to have been born to abusive parents who belittled them and prevented them from developing healthy self-esteem. Others are born predisposed to view themselves in a negative light because of their physical appearance, a disability, or for no reason anyone, including themselves, knows. Research has consistently supported the notion that it's difficult to be happy without liking oneself. But how can one learn to like oneself when one doesn't?

Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation by Sharon Salzberg | Review | Spirituality & Practice

In the introduction to this useful work, Salzberg notes that a 2007 survey by the National Center for Health Statistics showed that more than 20 million Americans had practiced meditation in the previous 12 months. They told researchers that they did it to improve their overall wellness, to reduce stress, relieve pain, and to deal with the symptoms of chronic illnesses such as heart disease and cancer. The author has written this book for the millions who have not yet tried meditation and are looking for ways to make better decisions, break bad habits, recover from disappointments, and find more balance in their lives.

Greetings fellow earth creatures!

I hope your day has been an enjoyable one - especially your time here with us on the forum ...

Here's an interesting organisation and website and interview -

The word happiness is thrown around quite frequently - oftentimes without too much thought or understanding into what being happy truly means. Action for Happiness is a movement that is out to decipher that concept, by providing practical tools to improve mental wellbeing throughout the world. The movement must be on to something - as the patron of the organization is the Dalai Lama himself! We were lucky to speak with Natasha Warne, the Head of Community Courses at the London-based organization. In this week's 10 Good Questions, Warne sheds light on how Action for Happiness goes about activating change – read on.
