Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God

Christ really has a tight immigration policy regarding the kingdom of God. He really has a strong distaste for rich people, making it next to impossible for them to enter.

What are your thoughts on that?

I always thought it was a bit like Buddhism. Your attachments cause you to suffer.

Maybe Jesus saw heaven as here and now, freedom from the sufferings of the world. People at the time couldn't figure it out so that thought he was referring to so spiritual place you go after you die.

Be funny if when people die Jesus tells them that heaven was where they just left. Their life on earth was their one chance to experience heaven and they blew it.

I don't see that Christ has any distaste for rich people, only a distaste for the fact that rich people can too easily turn their riches into their god.

It isn't money but the love of it that causes the problem. The more you have the less you need God. The less you have, the more you need money. Then there is no time for God.

Solomon said "give me neither poverty nor riches" because each of those leads to discontent. A discontented person is always distracted.

The Bible strongly advocates taking care of the poor, widows and orphans. There were built in laws that reduced the wealth gap. Jesus continued with that.

The Kingdom of God/Heaven was here and now for Jesus. That got twisted later on in history by his supposed followers.

I believe you are imposing your own thoughts on Jesus. There is no indication that He has anything against wealthy people.

I believe that is true. The gate is narrow but the good news is that Jesus is the gatekeeper.

I believe the Buddha missed the fact that that is relative. If you are trying to get through a narrow gate with a lot of baggage either one must let go of the baggage or not get through the gate. Otherwise one may travel with as much baggage as one wishes. These days one does not get through the gate at the airport with too much baggage or the wrong things in it.

I believe if that were the case He wouldn't have had us pray for it. "May it be on earth as it is in Heaven."

I believe that can never happen this side of Heaven. It is the price for having life.

I believe there is no evidence to support that view.

I believe the Kingdom of God is within us but that becomes an actual place when the subjects are all gathered together in one place.

I believe a lot of people confuse the Kingdom of heaven with Heaven. They are not the same thing

it is harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven refers to the elected rich people as in these things are impossible with men but all things are possible with God. these belong to the last group which are first in the vineyard that do only 1 hour work so they have to be elected by grace. this parable follows in the next chapter. actually Jesus is saying he will save the elect rich people with great difficulty after he gives them the Holy Spirit. many say they were rich people in the bible but they are actually rich slave owners. Jesus was made after the commandments and that culminates in the kenosis which is contrary to rich people who are in Christ. these people who have expensive cars and houses think they can claim under a bushel that they do not love money the root of all evil. now its love of money the root of all kinds of evil. it is a sin to be rich because it goes against the kenosis that Jesus worked out for al those chosen in him. also if you really stress king david was a man after Gods etc. you might as well believe he is the only begotten son of the Father who came from the bosom of the Father and declared him.

I was going to write a post about this myself. I don't know how much material possession and wealth is acceptable. There are conflicting accounts. If we are to give everything, then the person that receives is now guilty of possessing themselves. Doesn't make sense if you think about it.

I know of many wealthy people who are millionaires and live a life of luxury, claiming to be Christians. They give a little to charity and that's sufficient to them.

On the flip side, I knew of one evangelist who gave up his good salary and became a preacher, lived in a small house with barely any furnishings, giving his room and board to anyone for free. He barely had any money. That was about as closest as a "walk the walk" I personally knew and it still didn't come close to possessing nothing.

Your OP claims are not true and shows a lack of understanding of God's Word. Christ loves all people. Some he gives more than others but those he gives more there comes more responsibility and accountability. Everything that we have comes from God and these gifts God gives us to help others. Rich people are not the problem sin is the problem. If you love your money than God your breaking the first two commandments and sinning before God. It is sin that keeps people out of God's kingdom. Sin is the transgression of breakin of any one of God's 10 commandments.
