    Christians Only!

    Hello Christians!

There is something I don't understand...

I have noticed a big hole in my understanding of the faith

Hopefully you can help me fill it in :D

I've been reading up on Judgment Day, in which God will judge the living and the dead and then deal with them accordingly....

But how does this fit alongside the notion that to be saved (to be one of the elect) what you have to do is sincerely accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour? - i.e. become a Christian?

I ask, because that is what has been preached to me.

Do the elect bypass Judgment Day because Christ has paid for their sins (hence they no longer count) and go straight to Heaven?

But if Judgement Day is simply about "sorting the sheep from the goats" based on their acceptance of Christ then what is the point of calling it "Judgment"??? As no judgment would be involved if it's merely a test as to who has or has not accepted Christ?

Basically, I don't get what will be judged!

And what would happen to a person who God judges favourably but who is not one of the elect by virtue of them having not accepted Christ as their saviour? - surely if God were to judge such a person favourably then good things would happen to them as opposed to bad things, such as going to Hell? Otherwise, what would be the point of judging them?

    I just don't get it :(

Believers who are saved and belong to Jesus Christ have their lives judged at The Judgement Seat of Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:10) for the purpose of receiving or losing rewards according to how they served the Lord. It’s not judgement concerning salvation or eternal life, which is already theirs through Christ.

The unsaved who have rejected Christ are those who must appear at The Great White Throne Judgement or final judgement
    (Revelation 20:11-15).

There is a coming Judgement Day on Earth for the living figurative 'sheep' and 'goats' - Matthew 25:31-34,37
Those called to heavenly life are like the people of Luke 22:28-30; Daniel 7:18 and at faithful death they are saved.
As for Jesus' coming Judgement Day (Jesus' Millennium-Long Day of governing over Earth for a thousand years)
is when the resurrected dead at that time have the opportunity to live forever on Earth - Acts of the Apostles 24:15
So, they will be judged on what they do ' after ' they are resurrected.
The righteous should choose to remain righteous thus having a favorable judgement with their names in the Book of Life.
The un-righteous should choose to become and remain righteous, otherwise they will have an adverse judgement and their names blotted out of the Book of Life.

OK, there's a lot more to it. First of all a popular concept of 'hell' just isn't true because it doesn't mean eternal torture and punishment in some hot furnace. You might want to check the following out regarding hell:

I believe that during the millennium, Satan will roam this earth with no one to tempt.

In terms of judgement, Paul says something interesting in Hebrews 4 (Hebrews is the link between Old Testament Sanctuary service and book of Revelation)

Hebrews 4:16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
