This discussion has come up in another thead, I don't wish to hijack that other discussion so:

As a follower of Yeshua (Jesus), it is taught that if we see a fellow Christian doing something that may be against the faith to talk to them in private about it. That is not negotiable, we are supposed to do that.

People mistake that to mean to condemn a fellow Christians, that we are not supposed to do. We are not supposed to point at a person and say "You are not a true Christian if you believe/don't believe ________".

Do you all agree with this? I would like people who actually follow my faith, no matter which denomination, to answer. If another faith wants to answer, that does not bother me, as long as we keep on the discussion, thank you.

I know when Peter was discriminating against the uncircumcised Gentiles,Paul let him have it in public openly in front of everybody.

Galatians 2:11When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned
. 12For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

14When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?

    Here you go:

Matthew 18:15 But if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

It would appear that Paul wasn't paying too much attention to what Jesus taught, doesn't it. ;)

Sorry, I was being facetious. Paul did not having the written Gospels to be a guide to him, as we do.

To point at someone and say "you are not a true christian" is different than someone pointing out what true Christians do not do.
This passage pertains to one who has sinned against you.It becomes a private matter. It is not to be spoken of or gossiped about. It must be resolved between the two.
    • Proverbs 25:9
9 Plead your case with your neighbor,
But do not reveal what you were told confidentially,
.What happened with Peter was done openly because he was discriminating, not against Paul ,but against an entire class of people. The uncircumcised Gentiles.Peter also dragged along with him Barnabas.Peters actions affected many.It was not a private matter. It was a public issue that had to be resolved immediately.

Galatians 2:14 "...I said to Cephas in front of them all,"

What I meant was that Paul was not around Jesus while he preached as Peter was. Paul was wrong to call out Peter in public that way, in my view, as it goes against at least one of Jesus' teachings, as I posted. Paul was a human being.

Did Paul call Peter a fake follower of Jesus? Did he say he was not truly a Disciple? No, he did not.

No,he did not.Peters actions spoke for themselves. He made a mistake and he was called out on it.He was corrected. Now if Peter had continued this behavior than he would not be a true Christian now would he? He would have been deemed an apostate for teaching something other than what Jesus taught.

Your view has nothing to do with what is truth sister. You are incorrect to say Paul was wrong to do that.He was chosen personally by God.He was blessed with God's holy spirit and that is why Jesus appeared to him on the side of the road near Damascus.Paul being blessed with holy spirit speaks what God commands.Paul wrote 14 of the writings in the NT.More than any other disciple. To go against or not agree with what Paul says is to disagree with God.

I've got another question: Do you think that if I went to my Church service this Sunday and called out several members and said "You guys are not true Christians", do you think that would go over very well? No. ng.
Can't you see the difference? Paul was NOT condemning Peter, he loved Peter and admired Peter, that is apparent. All he did was state that he thought that Peter was wrong in judging the gentiles. Paul did not and would not say that Peter or any of the other Apostles were false followers in Jesus. That is what I speaking about.

What about the story of the log and splinter? What do you suppose that means?

That isn't the point of the debate. We are not allowed to call people false Christians: That is condemnation.

I was sidetracked from the subject when speaking of Paul and Peter, but I will say that Paul was a human being. Even King David did things that were sins against God and man. All the men in the Bible did things that were sins against man and God: Abraham, David, etc. What makes you think that Paul was immune?

You are wrong on everything you say.All you focus on is that part you keep repeating, "Not a true Christian." You are hung up on it.Nobody called you that and I did not say that ever. I merely pointed out what the holy scriptures says.It points out that those who do not do as Christ teaches are not doing what God commands. To be a true Christian one must adhere to these commands.Yes,we are all sinners, but theres a difference between stumbling and willfully sinning. If you kill, cheat, steal, commit sexually immoral acts etc..,you are not a true christian. It is not I who says it.Gods word says that.I don't care what anybody says.It is what Gods word says that counts. This is the truth! If one disagrees with this then they need to take it up with the one who said it.That would be God.

But!,they corrected themselves did they not? If they would have continued to carry on with the same behavior, then they would not be true followers of God.They stopped and repented. They remained in the faith. They were forgiven.

I am not wrong. Yes, of course we are supposed to follow these commands. We are supposed to tell others, if you read what I said then you will know I believe that. I never said anything different. The discussion wasn't about telling people they were doing something wrong but about condemning people. Telling a fellow Christian they are doing something that is against God's word is NOT condemning them, not telling them they are false.
God's word is what we all follow, I am sorry you seem to think that I don't follow it. I do follow it, more than you can know just reading my posts here at RF.

Of course they did. But did Abraham repent when he told others that Sarai was his sister, he told others the same thing again later. David did turn around, yet Nathan had to bring it up to him. You will notice that Nathan did not discuss this with David in public, but in private, as well.
You don't seem to understand what I am speaking about. I am not speaking against telling others what they do is a sin, I would only tell that to other Christians and only in private. A public forum is not the place to do that and it is not my place to tell people who don't even follow my faith. That is why I don't discuss homosexuality here.
