Hi friends, even though the believers were called Christians in the book of Acts, it is important to note those words mentioned in Acts 11:26 “... first called Christians in Antioch”. These words have brought us to some questions. What was their identity before they went in to Antioch? And why were they called Christians?
Firstly – we know according to the bible that the disciples are of the Jewish nation. Born Jews, kept the Sabbath, Passover and all customs of the Jews. Paul said in 2Cor: 11:22 “Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I”.
God did not call them Christians my friend. Those in Antioch called them Christians.

Why were they called Christians?
The disciples were preaching the doctrine of the resurrection Acts 4:2, “And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead some mocked...” Acts 17:32; Jesus was the back bone of the doctrine of the resurrection because he died and rose from the tomb 1 Cor. 15:11-14:
So when the disciples went into Antioch they were given this false name “Christians” as a mockery not as an identity of religion; also this was not the only false name mention of the disciples in the bible; also they were called “Niger” Act 13:1.
This false name identified Jewish men as they preach the gospel of the resurrection. That is why Peter said “...if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed...” 1 peter 4:12
Therefore my friend we must take the true understand of the word Christian according to the bible and not what it represents today. For what Christianity represents today is not the true religion of Jesus.
Question: if the word Christian is so important why is it mention only three times in the entire bible Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28 and 1 Peter 4:16?

They were Believers, nationality or gender has and had nothing to do with faith.
Saul.aka Paul "the desireer who then became the small" was sent to the GENTILES
but tended to resort to his own kind as menschen tend to do, because of ease in
making a connection.
In Antioch the were called Messianics- hence the greek transliteration to Christian
meaning, follower/fellow of the Christ-Messiah-Promised One.

So is christian a slur? NO WAY
No more than one says GOD, another says YHWH, another says Great spirit, another
says Jehovah, or another utters Allah
All refer to the same deity, but it is flag waving nationalists and sectarians
who always end up placing labels to define-or confine others

Who says the word Christian is so important? It is merely a word to describe those who believe that Jesus Christ is the messiah and savior.
If it was originally intended as a slur, it makes no difference.

Josephus referred to "the tribe of Christians, so named from him;"

Look and 'Yankee Doodle'. A song sung by the British to mock the American Revolutionaries. Now it is sung as a Patriotic tribute to those same Revolutionaries.
Is Yankee a false name? If so, does that make America a false country?

Jew is the Anglicized pronunciation of Yehudim (Those from Judah).
Judah in Hebrew (י ה ו [ד] ה) contains the four letters from the name of God, making it a holy name and appropriate for the Israelites.

ISRAELITES, which were back then seen as somewhere just

As I said in the other thread, the word "Christian" should only ever apply to Messianic Jews, all other uses of the word should be hyphenated to reflect their late development of doctrine and Theology. Especially if they use the Pauline epistles and don't abide by the actual teachings of Yashua (or consider them trumped by Paul).
