A friend of ours wants to learn to read tarot cards. Its not something I do much for myself much anymore so I'm a little rusty, but I agreed to help him get started.

He is Christian, and not a real adventurous one regarding religion or culture. This kind of surprised us(my husband and I). He knows nothing of the occult, and most of the symbolism on the average deck won't mean much to him. I feel it would be easiest for him to learn if he could connect with the deck and the images, and it will be easiest for him to do so if he finds the images meaningful and attractive. Trouble is, I'm having difficulty helping him find a good deck that's appropriate for him.

Any suggestions?

Does he follow a certain tradition of Christianity? Like are angels and saints important to him?

No, they're not. He's basic Protestant, without any bells and whistles.

So tarot focusing on Jesus or pop culture will be the best rote. Or he could use a regular playing deck:

How much is he willing to spend before I look up decks?

I actually bought him one myself last night... The Golden Tarot by Kat Black. It seemed the most Biblical one that I could find.

There were a few interesting ones, but many were out of print. It took me awhile to find an available copy of this one.

So no need for me to look some up? Ok.
