There are many demographers that dispute the Chinese government's official population numbers. They calculate that the population actually began declining in 2020.

Like India there will be "secret plans" hatched by some families for a male.Female weddings are expensive if you have to pay for them and males are seen as carrying on the family name and dynasty.
Very rough on the males due to gender imbalance.loos They emulate the West .Both boys and girls are not interested in affairs or marriage.They seriously commit to work and curl up with a good book.

IF their numbers are as trustworthy as their COVID numbers they publicly released THEN I only trust it after counting myself

Why are there people still worried about overpopulation killing the planet?

We are pampered.We probably have a home,TV,some sort of job and 3 meals a day.One thing travel teaches is lots and lots of the world do not.
We have a responsibility to future generations so more have a nice and not horrible life.
