Finally someone takes on this task. They don't yet know what it will be but I suspect they'll end up with something like a Stanford Torus.

Not at first but in the long run they'll need space lasers. Such a big structure is going to catch a lot of micro meteorites if they don't get vaporized.

As long as it's not cheap. Almost everything is made there, but my own personal rule is no cheap Chinese stuff if it's gonna hurt when it breaks.
A breaking space station is gonna hurt a hella lot.
