This is a fantastic alternative to HDMI. It has the exact same hd output, but its normally a lot cheaper. I acquired one from ebay since my tv does not have a hdmi input. I put a component in, there is absolutely no difference. Except it does not support 1080i, but it does support 1080p, 720p, 720i, 570p, 570i. I did this on my ps3, might be different for different things.

    They are really worth it.

Are they? Mine was only about 5 pounds from Ebay, my gold tipped HDMI was 22 pounds.

    That is a great deal.
Component normally runs for around $30 in brick and mortar stores.
