This reminds me that when I was posted to Dubai I bought a type of Mitsubishi 4 wheel drive which in the UK is called a Shogun, but out there was called a Pajero.

It was only on my return to London that I worked with a S American who thought this very funny...and explained that pajero is S American slang for w*nker! So, there I was, driving proudly round the Emirates, in my red Mistubishi w*anker, for four years.

The Japanese have always had a real gift for choosing inappropriate names for their cars (Toyota Cedric??; Mitsubishi Starion = Stallion??), but this one must win some sort of prize for cultural clumsiness.

I was going to get a Firebird for my first "paid for it" car, but the dealership wouldn't sell it to a teen.
My second car, after my first car that was 84 Datsun Nissan that had been a hand-me-down for awhile, was an 89 Grand Prix my dad got for my mom but she didn't want it because "it had too many buttons." It was nice though, it I learned some about the electric stuff on a car with it.
My mom had some 90s model of Grand Prix she leased for awhile, and it had the most gorgeous and pretty shade of blue.
My first "paid for it" car was an 02 Mercury Cougar. I really liked that car, miss it, and would get another despite the high degree of difficulty in working on them.

Pontiac and Oldsmobile. I had a 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix My father turned over to me when he got a new car. This car was a tank. Four barrel carb, dual exhaust, 450 engine, gas mileage was minus 12 mpg. :D Had an ‘88 Grand Am, then a 2000 Olds Alero. Apart from my truck (2004 Chevy Silverado, currently 293,000 miles) best darn vehicles I ever owned.
