How do you come by these combinations of scriptures Frank?
Out of context, when you isolate scriptures, it does nothing but create confusion. You need a proper Bible study which is offered for free by JW's. If you study, you can ask questions as they arise during the study. But keeping to a schedule of Bible topics will help to organise your thoughts and keep them from jumping all over the place.
The word "soul" in essence, means life. The human soul is the whole person, body, conscious mind and the breath (spirit) that keeps every cell in the body functioning. The word "nephesh" only ever refers to a living, breathing creature. It is never applied to a disembodied spirit.
It is the whole person who comes forth from the grave at their resurrection. Only God has power over the grave.....to restore the whole person again.
Psalm 49:13-15 is addressed to all mankind. (See verse 1)
The Psalmist says of those who stupidly deny God....
"13 This is the way of the stupid ones
And of those who follow them, who take pleasure in their empty words. (Selah)
14 They are assigned like sheep to the Grave.
Death will shepherd them;
The upright will rule over them in the morning.
Every trace of them will fade away;
The Grave rather than a palace will be their home."
The wicked God deniers will not see life again because the grave will be their permanent "home". It means that those who do not want to know God, will never have to.....but they will not be around to lament their situation. Everlasting death is the opposite of everlasting life.
Belief in an immortal soul destroyed that fundamental Bible truth.
John 14:3 is speaking of those who are chosen to rule with Christ in heaven. He went to prepare a place for them in his Father's house. But not all who love and worship the Creator will go to heaven. God is the one who chooses them and anoints them with his holy spirit. They have a specific role and will bring redeemed mankind back into a reconciliation with God. (Revelation 20:6)
Their choosing began on the night before Jesus died, when he instituted the "new covenant". These heavenly kings and priests will rule over redeemed humanity and bring them back to where we were supposed to be in Eden....enjoying everlasting life in paradise conditions on earth. We see what happened in Genesis, is rectified in Revelation 21:2-4.
Ecclesiastes 3 is a wonderful chapter and a 'must read' for all who seek to understand God's wisdom expressed by this wise King Solomon. It must be remembered however that the details of the "sacred mystery" were not revealed until Messiah came. Solomon was not in possession of the details of life and death and resurrections to come and so he lamented the fact that death robs us of our superiority over the animals, as he says in verses 19-20....
"for there is an outcome for humans and an outcome for animals; they all have the same outcome. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit. So man has no superiority over animals, for everything is futile. 20 All are going to the same place. They all come from the dust, and they all are returning to the dust."
The "one spirit" is the fact that we all exist because we breathe the same air.....and when breathing ceases, so does life. Solomon never expressed belief in an immortal soul but as many OT writers did, he had a belief in the resurrection. He knew this was only offered to humans however, and so his words reflect belief that man would live again but that animals were never given that option.
I hope that has answered your questions from the JW perspective.
Thanks.But you didn't answer my verses back to back.The verses i am talking about are in my first post.
I'm not interested in the verses from the Christian Scriptures, but I'll answer about the Psalms.What do you think of these four verses combined?Psalms 49:15.And Psalms 49:13-15.And John 14:3.And Ecclesiastes 3:21
